The Crown and Outlander star lands next movie role
Actor Tobias Menzies, known for his roles in The Crown and Outlander, has secured a part in an upcoming film titled The Entertainment System Is Down.
Ruben Östlund, the director behind “Triangle of Sadness,” is currently working on a new project – a comedic critique of society that unfolds during a prolonged airplane journey.
If the entertainment system on the plane malfunctions, it leaves a diverse assortment of travelers from around the world with the unsettling experience of finding themselves at a loss for amusement.
As reported by Deadline, Menzies has been added to the main cast alongside previously revealed actors such as Keanu Reeves, Kirsten Dunst, Nicholas Braun, Samantha Morton, and Daniel Brühl.
It appears that Menzies will take over from Joel Edgerton, who unfortunately couldn’t continue with the movie because of scheduling issues.
Previously, Ostlund explained to Variety that the movie would delve into the way people behave within the confined space of an airplane, serving as a microcosm. It will explore how contemporary humans cope, or rather struggle, under such challenging conditions.
Additionally, he expressed his wish that a particular live scene in the movie might lead to the most massive exodus ever witnessed at the Cannes Film Festival.
Meanwhile, Menzies last appeared on screen in Apple TV+’s true-crime drama Manhunt last year.
According to James L Swanson’s nonfiction book “Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer”, this seven-part series narrates the events surrounding the assassination of Abraham Lincoln and the ensuing manhunt for his murderer, John Wilkes Booth.
Menzies portrays Edwin Stanton, the individual assigned to capture John Wilkes Booth after President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.
The actor hinted at the potential comeback of his characters Frank or ‘Black Jack’ Randall in the upcoming eighth and last season of Outlander, stating: “Can I reveal anything? It would be fantastic. [However], don’t expect to see me. They’re going to wrap it up beautifully, I’m confident.
