The Crow soars home this month for those who missed it in theaters

As a die-hard fan of gothic superheroes and Bill Skarsgård, I must admit my excitement for the remake of The Crow was palpable. However, after witnessing this cinematic misadventure, I can’t help but feel like I attended the funeral of my favorite raven-winged vigilante. The film seemed to have all the right ingredients: a talented cast, an intriguing storyline, and a director known for delivering visually stunning films. Yet, it failed to deliver on all fronts, leaving me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

A controversial film from the jump, Lionsgate’s gothic superhero remake of The Crow turned out to be a resounding flop on all counts. Not only did the movie get panned by fans and critics alike, but it hasn’t generated much money at the box office, so far only earning around $18.7 million on a $50 million budget. Not even the charms of lead Bill Skarsgard could save this one.

However, it might be that the film titled “The Crow” will experience a revival when it becomes available on-demand, making it easier for numerous individuals to watch it without leaving their homes, as opposed to traveling to a movie theater. Commencing from Friday, September 13th, the film can be purchased via PVOD (Premium Video On Demand) from digital platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon, Fandango Now, Google Play, and other similar services.

In a haunting tale of forbidden love, “The Crow” portrays the story between Eric Draven (Skarsgard), a tormented drug user, and Shelly Webster (Twigs), a distressed musician. Heartbreakingly, these destined lovers meet their untimely deaths at the hands of evil men. When Eric is granted the chance to rescue Shelly by giving up his life and swearing vengeance on their murderers, he embarks on a violent, revenge-driven spree marked by bloodshed.

Apart from Alexander Skarsgard and Tahliah Debrett Barnett, also known as FKA twigs, the movie features Danny Huston, Josette Simon, and Laura Birn. Rupert Sanders, who directed Snow White and the Huntsman, is at the helm for this production.

Alongside the film, certain platforms participating in this event will offer exclusive bonus content that is typically saved for the DVD version. This includes behind-the-scenes footage on Alexander Skarsgård’s transformation into The Crow, insights into set construction, and additional entertaining tidbits about the cast and crew.

❗️From September 13th, I’ll have the chance to rent “The Crow” for a 48-hour span at $19.99, or opt for the digital purchase version priced at $24.99. Just a heads up that this film carries an R rating due to its graphic violence, strong language, mature themes like sexuality/nudity, and drug use. 🌟

Fans of Skarsgard can look forward to seeing him in the Robert Eggers horror movie “Nosferatu,” hitting theaters this December. Additionally, he will return as Pennywise in the HBO It prequel series titled “Welcome to Derry,” set for release in 2025.
