The Crow is now available to watch at home
As a seasoned gamer of the cinematic universe, I’ve seen my fair share of reboots that either soared or plummeted like a falcon with a broken wing. The latest iteration of “The Crow” seems to have fallen into the latter category, leaving me, and many others, wondering if it might just take flight in the realm of digital streaming.
As a die-hard fan, I’m giving you an opportunity to judge for yourself whether “The Crow” deserves another shot. Despite its rocky start with both critics and ticket sales, its unique charm could be worth revisiting!
The film, with a dismal Rotten Tomatoes score of 22%, has raked in over $20 million globally at the box office. However, it might have a second chance, as Lionsgate has made the movie available for streaming in the United States.
You can purchase or rent “The Crow” on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, and various other digital stores within the United States, if you’re interested in watching it.
In the United Kingdom, the movie “The Crow” hasn’t set a digital release date yet, but we might need to wait a bit longer. It seems like it could be around four more weeks, suggesting an early October premiere. The timeframe is likely to follow the standard 45-day gap between theatrical and digital releases.
After the release, Alex Proyas – the director of the original 1994 film The Crow – criticized the reboot’s financial success by stating, “I believed the remake was merely a greedy attempt to make money. It appears there wasn’t much cash to be had.
In the latest adaptation of The Crow, Bill Skarsgård assumes the character of Eric Draven. Meanwhile, FKA Twigs portrays his love interest, Shelly, and Danny Huston embodies the villainous role of a demonic crime boss named Vincent Roeg.
For the reboot, there were modifications made to Eric’s appearance, and director Rupert Sanders disclosed that this change held a personal significance for him.
That expression was reminiscent of me during the ’90s, when we were raving in London’s squats, blended with a touch of contemporary styles such as Post Malone and Lil Peep. I hope today’s 19-year-olds see him and think, ‘He’s representative of us.'” (he explained)
Prior to its launch, Skarsgård expressed his personal preference for a more conclusive ending in the reboot rather than leaving room for a sequel, stating, “I favored something more decisive.
It seems likely that if The Crow doesn’t perform exceptionally well on digital and streaming services, there’s a good chance we won’t see a follow-up.
In the United States, you can either purchase or rent “The Crow” on Prime Video, iTunes, and other platforms. However, a digital release date for the UK has not been announced as of now.
