The Clone Wars voice actors shared their "What If" style episode ideas

As a dedicated Star Wars fan and avid gamer, I can’t help but be captivated by the endless possibilities that lie within the expansive galaxy far, far away. The recent panel at Fan Expo Denver featuring the voice cast of The Clone Wars only fueled my imagination as they shared their favorite “What If” stories.

As a longtime Star Wars fan with countless hours spent pondering the intricacies of this beloved universe, I can’t help but be captivated by the endless possibilities that exist beyond the stories we’ve already seen on the big screen.

Lately, the actors from “The Clone Wars” series appeared at Fan Expo Denver and were questioned about their preferred “What If” tales during a Q&A session. Here’s what I gleaned from being part of the audience.

Dee Bradley Baker

Dee Bradley Baker, representing the clone perspective, pondered over several characters before settling on Fives. This clone uncovered Order 66’s dark secret and made a valiant attempt to warn the Jedi. In my take, Fives manages to alert the Jedi about Palpatine’s treacherous scheme, allowing them to prepare for the impending attack. Consequently, he decides to leave the chaos behind and begins farming tauntauns in peace. Though amusing, this alternative ending raises intriguing questions. Could Palpatine have been thwarted if the Jedi were warned earlier? Perhaps he wouldn’t have carried out his plans, keeping Anakin on the righteous path of the Force. This hypothetical scenario opens up a myriad of possibilities for an engaging “What If” episode in Star Wars lore.

Ashley Eckstein

Ashley Eckstein presented two wildly different episode concepts to explore. In the first, she wondered what would have happened if Ahsoka had joined Maul. As his new apprentice, what would Ahsoka and Maul have accomplished together? Would Ahsoka have fallen into his Dark ways or could they have interfered with Palpatine’s plan? Either way, it is a much darker topic than Eckstein’s other idea. Inspired by a fan theory created after Ahsoka left the Jedi, she posited that Ahsoka would start a space pony farm. Although it may appear a bit out of character, Ahsoka could use it as a healing experience after a lifetime of war. Instead of being pulled back into more conflict, she may found joy in her new venture.

Matt Lanter

Matt Lanter proposed an intriguing alternate storyline: what if Anakin Skywalker didn’t join the dark side and stayed with Padme on Naboo instead? In this scenario, Anakin would leave the Jedi Order behind and help raise Luke and Leia as a happy family. Their long-awaited wedding would be a public event, free from political pressures and Jedi restrictions. But, could their love have flourished without the challenges that kept them apart? What implications would this have on the Jedi Order, missing Anakin’s influence? This idyllic vision might not last if Anakin grows restless living a peaceful life away from war.

James Arnold Taylor

It’s no shock that the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi, portrayed by James Arnold Taylor, would long for a reunion with Satine Kryze in the Star Wars universe. Fans were devastated when she met her untimely end. The thought of these two being together again is heartwarming, raising questions about how they could make their love work despite their conflicting loyalties. Would they have kept their relationship hidden? Or would Obi-Wan have been compelled to leave the Jedi Order as he had pondered long ago? During his interview, Taylor expressed his desire for a “Tales of the Jedi” series that could delve into Satine and Obi-Wan’s early romance, offering another intriguing possibility to fulfill our “Obitine” fantasies.

Each actor on the panel clearly adores the Star Wars universe, as evidenced by their heartfelt portrayals of their characters. Having spent years bringing these stories to life through voice acting, they’ve developed a deep appreciation for the saga that resonates with us fans. If given the chance, their creative ideas for “What If” episodes could result in captivating additions to the Star Wars canon. I eagerly anticipate the possibility of seeing these concepts come to fruition with the talented actors leading the way.
