Nicole Kidman has been having a difficult time since her marriage to country singer Keith Urban ended this summer, leading her to file for divorce on Monday.
The 58-year-old, Oscar-winning star has relied on her close friend since they were teenagers, fellow Australian actress Naomi Watts, who is 57 years old.
According to a source who spoke with Daily Mail, Nic has been frequently calling Naomi to discuss ways for her to deal with what’s happening.
Many people have been offering guidance, and Nic is taking it to heart because Naomi understands what he’s going through firsthand. She experienced very public breakups with both Heath Ledger and Liev Schreiber, so she truly knows how difficult heartbreak can be when you’re in the public eye,” the source explained.
Naomi’s smart suggestion is to be completely honest with the public, address things directly, and then allow fans to understand and move forward.

This isn’t the first time the blonde has supported Kidman through a difficult breakup; she was there for the actress in 2001 when she and Tom Cruise got divorced.
Kidman looks up to Watts, as the King Kong actress is happily married to Billy Crudup and doing very well in her personal life.
A friend mentioned that Nic hopes to have a relationship like Naomi and Billy’s one day, filled with adoration and a lot of love.
Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts first encountered each other as teens, around the age of 15, while auditioning for a swimsuit commercial in Sydney, Australia, during the 1980s.
They first connected while waiting for their audition and became friends. Their bond grew even stronger when they collaborated on the 1991 movie Flirting.
They have a deep connection, with Watts even referring to Kidman as ‘like the sister I never had.’
Nicole Kidman reportedly spoke with Naomi Watts before accepting a role in the 2024 Netflix series The Perfect Couple, a role which involved a romantic relationship with Watts’ former partner, Liev Schreiber.
The redheaded star has also been leaning on her 55-year-old sister Antonia Kidman.
Kidman filed for divorce from Urban earlier this week.

The well-known actress has filed for divorce soon after it was revealed that she and her husband – parents to daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14 – had split up after 19 years of marriage, according to a report by Daily Mail on Tuesday.
A source previously told People that Nicole didn’t want this and that the Hollywood star – who was married to Tom Cruise from 1990 to 2001 – was still fighting to save the marriage.
The source also mentioned back then: ‘Nicole’s sister [Antonia] has been a huge support, and the whole Kidman family is rallying around each other.’
Nicole and Keith are divorcing after spending the summer apart. The actress was filming Practical Magic 2 in London, and Keith was touring the world with his High and Alive World Tour.
Meanwhile, Nicole previously admitted that she missed her family while filming Expats in Hong Kong.

The well-known actress filmed the TV mini-series in Asia while the COVID-19 pandemic was ongoing. Nicole later shared that she found it difficult to cope with the limitations and being away from her family.
Nicole – who has been married to Keith since 2006 – shared with Extra: ‘I was really missing my children and my husband.’
‘We loved Hong Kong, we were able to shoot really in the city, everything in there is authentic.
I’d happily climb seven flights of stairs to film in that tiny apartment. We worked quickly, almost like we were making a small movie, even though the project was actually huge. And we got to film in Hong Kong, which was absolutely beautiful.
Before that, Nicole explained that the COVID-19 restrictions in Hong Kong and being separated from her husband and children had impacted how she performed. She acknowledged these factors played a role.
She shared with the Guardian newspaper: ‘Being in Hong Kong, away from my family, was a real error in judgment. It wasn’t possible for me to simply travel to them, and they couldn’t reach me either. This significantly impacted how I performed, to the point where it also affected my mental state.’
