Dallas Jenkins, the creator of “The Chosen,” recently shared an update on the show’s future, including news about its spinoffs. While season 6 of the original “The Chosen” is currently in production and will likely be released next, it’s important to note that this will be the second-to-last season. The show is also growing, with new stories being developed beyond the main narrative.
I was really intrigued to hear about The Chosen Adventures, which is an animated series created as a spin-off for younger viewers. It launched on Prime Video on October 17th, 2025, and tells the story of two kids, Abby and Joshua, who meet Jesus along with their animal pals, Sheep and Pigeon, all set in New Testament times. From what I’ve seen, the reception has been pretty varied, but leaning towards positive.
In a recent interview with Collider, creator Jenkins revealed that a second season of The Chosen Adventures hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. He explained that whether the animated spinoff continues will depend on how many people watch the first season. Jenkins also expressed his hope that the series could continue telling its story for a good while if it’s possible.
This series tells the story of Jesus in a unique way – through the eyes of children. The first season is now available, but its success depends on how viewers respond. Whether there will be future seasons depends on how well Season 1 is received.
Animation allows these stories to continue indefinitely, and I hope The Chosen Adventures runs for many seasons—perhaps twelve! I believe telling these difficult stories from a child’s perspective could be incredibly impactful.
Given his vision for the main series, Dallas Jenkins’ idea of creating twelve seasons of The Chosen Adventures seems realistic. Although season 5 of The Chosen just aired, the creators are planning two more seasons to cover the final events of Jesus’ life, including his death and resurrection, as told in the New Testament.

The show has been on Prime Video for nearly two months now, but so far, there’s no clear data on how many people are watching it, making it hard to decide if it will continue. However, the popularity of The Chosen might be enough to keep the spinoff going, even if just for a short time.
The show could gain popularity as more people talk about it. With a solid 8.2/10 rating on IMDb, it offers positive lessons about Jesus’ life, making it appropriate for younger viewers. Ultimately, attracting an audience is key to its success, though it’s unclear exactly how many viewers it will need.
Despite the ongoing success of The Chosen, the possibility of expanding into a multi-season The Chosen Adventures still exists. Currently, the plan is to keep it as a single season. However, creator Dallas Jenkins has indicated that strong viewership could lead to further development and the future the series deserves.
