In the third installment, we welcome back our terrific ensemble cast. Vanessa Emme, known for her roles in “Bloodlands” and “Dublin Murders,” portrays Max’s reliable partner DS Layla Walsh. Alongside her are Sophie Stone, recognized from “Shetland” and “Doctor Who,” Lucy Phelps from “Playing Nice” and “Grace,” Peter Bankolé of “Peaky Blinders” and “D.I. Ray,” Anamaria Marinca from “Fury” and “Deadline,” Frances Barber who appeared in “Whitstable Pearl” and “Silk.” Last but not least, the exceptional Alex Kingston, famous for her roles in “Doctor Who” and “ER,” makes a guest appearance.
In the glitzy cityscape of Chelsea, detectives DI Max Arnold (from Scarborough) and his resilient partner DS Layla Walsh (known as Emme) delve into a series of perplexing crimes. Fresh on their desk are four chilling murder cases: the demise of a once-famous popstar, an ex-soldier’s corpse found in an allotment, the gruesome slaying of an antiques dealer, and the enigmatic death of a climate scientist discovered in a stolen vehicle. As the stakes escalate, this tenacious duo employs every tactic at their disposal to apprehend these murderers, regardless of the potential friction they may cause during their pursuit of justice.
However, though Max excels at unraveling mysteries, his personal life is complex. After all their highs and lows, Max and his estranged spouse, Astrid (Marinca)), have decided to try couples therapy in an effort to reconcile. Will they manage to iron out their disagreements and reignite their marriage?
As a movie enthusiast, I highly recommend immersing yourself in the gripping tale of “The Chelsea Detective”. This captivating detective drama will whisk you away on a scenic journey through London’s most elite neighborhood. However, be warned that these seemingly tranquil streets hide secrets as deep and dark as the city itself. Keep your wits sharp to unravel the mystery!
