As a long-time enthusiast of quiz shows, I must say it’s truly heartwarming to witness the 15th anniversary of “The Chase.” Over the years, this program has become a staple in my TV viewing schedule, much like a comforting cup of tea on a chilly evening.

This week, the much-missed game show “The Chase” by ITV graced our television screens once more, following a considerable absence.

On Thursday night, the show concluded with an exciting finish when Karen and Ian leapt for happiness upon winning a massive £100,000 prize.

In the given episode, Karen and Ian were the remaining competitors who answered 16 questions accurately under Bradley Walsh’s scrutiny, preparing to face off against Chaser Paul Sinha, aged 54.

Paul, who had his game face on, was raring to go as he started answering the questions with ease.

Nevertheless, there were some setbacks for him, as he missed answering a few questions correctly and found himself trailing behind due to both competitors’ responses.

At the 13th question’s mark, the clock indicated that the Chaser was down to 22 seconds, needing to answer the following three questions accurately.

However, Paul shockingly got the 15th question wrong leaving only eight seconds left on the clock.

As they mulled over the answer, both competitors seemed anxious. Unfortunately, they gave a wrong response to the question.

Bradley then asked Paul: ‘Lesley Manville played the widow Cathy in what BBC sitcom?’

Paul looked surprised and answered a question incorrectly, so he simply stated: “Pause, that answer is wrong.” (Informal)

Afterwards, both competitors faced each other to ponder over the potential solution, and Ian proposed “Eastenders” as his guess. However, Karen swiftly replied, “That’s a comedy.”

And as host Bradley pushed for an answer, Karen quickly responded with ‘Eastenders’.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t hide my astonishment when Bradley dropped the bomb that the team’s response was incorrect. To my delight, he then unveiled the right answer – it was none other than ‘mum’ all along!

Overwhelmed by despair, I gazed dejectedly as Bradley granted Chaser the final opportunity to answer the last question correctly within a mere instant.

Instead, Karen excitedly claimed the prize of £100,000 before the Chaser could respond to the question, as they immediately shared an embrace following her quick response.

Following The Chase’s 15th anniversary, they commemorated the event by restructuring the show’s format significantly.

On Monday’s broadcast, viewers enjoyed a thrilling scenario dubbed as ‘double challenge’, where two pursuers went head-to-head with the four competitors.

Host Bradley Walsh announced that the team would compete against not just one, but two Chasers: initially going up against Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace, then later playing against Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett.

However, the unexpected change didn’t stop there in this significant episode. Interestingly, the four participants chosen for the game were all named similarly to the Chasers: Darragh, Jenny, Paul, and Ann.

Audience members eagerly anticipated watching the special episode, some expressing their excitement on a platform that was once known as Twitter by saying, “Celebrating 15 years! Are you all set for this double-trouble special?”

‘Happy 15th anniversary for #thechase. With Double Trouble rules in effect!’;

15 years of The Chase! Time sure does fly, doesn’t it? Here’s to celebrating this impressive milestone and wishing you a joyous continuation of successes!

‘Wishing you everyone connected with this show a future filled with success and happiness for the next 15 years and more! Bradley & the Chasers have done an impressive job over the past decade and a half. They should rightfully take pride in their contribution to the beloved quiz program.’

As a lifestyle expert, I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the special 15th anniversary episode of #thechase, where all the familiar faces – Darragh, Jenny, Ann, and Paul – graced the stage as contestants. Interestingly, Mark and Sean took on the alternate chaser roles in two separate games. While I found the format intriguing, I have to admit that the ending seemed a tad bit contrived to celebrate this significant milestone for the show.
