The Celebrity Traitors’ five finalists Fans rejoice as ‘useless’ Kate Garraway is finally banished in action-packed penultimate episode while fan favourite Celia Imrie is murdered in plain sight

After a dramatic episode filled with surprises – including a public ‘murder’ and a heated final discussion – the five finalists on The Traitors were announced.

Following the sad news of Celia Imrie’s elimination earlier in the show, Kate Garraway was the last celebrity voted off the show. Throughout the series, viewers often felt she hadn’t been performing well.

The contestants were eager to identify the last Traitor, and a debate between David Olusoga and Kate became quite intense.

Kate remembered that David had been accused of treason in the past, but those claims had disappeared without proof.

David responded, ‘You were actually the one pushing hardest to check it out – you were at the next table, remember?’

Kate explained she was just trying to contribute something helpful, stating, ‘It’s part of my job,’ before David attempted to cut her off.

She scolded him, saying, ‘I’m going to see this through to the end. I was the only one willing to speak up about it.’

When you share information, David, it often feels like there’s a hidden meaning. It’s as if you’re suggesting something else, and then everyone looks to me, wondering why I reacted the way I did.

He responded firmly, saying, ‘That’s precisely what I’m doing.’ Then, speaking down to her, he added, ‘We’re meant to do this – simply state facts. That’s how conversations work, and that’s all I’m doing.’

Claudia then brought discussions to a close and asked them to vote.

Nick Mohammad supported Cat Burns, but David and Cat both chose Kate and Alan. Kate, in turn, voted for David.

Joe Marler’s vote was the tie-breaker, and he chose to eliminate Kate, much to the delight of viewers on social media.

In her farewell speech, she shared how much she appreciated her audience, saying, ‘I’ve spent many years being serious and sad, and you’ve all let me enjoy an incredible experience – not just the important parts, but also the chance to be playful and have fun.’

I hope each of you leaves here with a fresh idea and the beginning of a new chapter in your life.

Oh my gosh, seriously, thank you, thank you so much! And honestly, I’ve always just been me, completely and truly myself, a total devotee, always have been!

Fans celebrated on Twitter when Kate was eliminated, with many posting comments like ‘Kate is finally gone!’ and ‘The scapegoat is gone!’

Kate created her own problems by constantly talking about herself. Honestly, many people thought she should have been eliminated earlier, but it’s surprisingly good she’s lasted this long.

People congratulated Kate, with many playfully admitting they were surprised by her success but expressing their support and admiration for her.

From the very beginning, Kate was suspected of being a traitor, and she’s appeared unaware of the danger the whole time. It’s amazing she’s made it this far – well done!

After a stressful series of talks inside the castle, Cat, Alan, Joe, Nick, and David were led outside to the fire pit to relax.

Claudia told them they were the final five finalists and nobody would be getting murdered.

She then asked them to all individually tell the group that ‘I am a faithful’.

Alan, branded a traitor, started laughing as he attempted to say the words, immediately making people suspicious.

Joe believes Alan is untrustworthy, pointing out that Alan avoids eye contact and won’t directly state his loyalty. Joe sees this as a clear warning sign about Alan’s character.

The former rugby star also correctly fingered Cat as being a Traitor.

I was watching him speak to the camera, and honestly, his strategy is pretty clear. He’s aiming to become really close to Alan and Cat, basically making himself indispensable so they’ll keep him around. Then, he admitted he plans to betray them right at the end! He actually said ‘Sorry, traitors, I’m coming for you!’ It’s ruthless, but you have to admire the nerve.

Next Thursday’s Celebrity Traitors finale will reveal whether Joe succeeds with his daring plan.

Earlier in the episode, it was Celia who became the traitors final victim.

Now that they’d finally captured Jonathan Ross, who had betrayed them, host Claudia decided to throw a celebratory dinner party at the castle – but it wasn’t going to be a typical party.

Alan, branded a traitor, was compelled to carry out a killing openly during the celebrations. After looking over those who remained loyal, he acted.

The 49-year-old comedian spoke to the other contestants about his experience in the castle, fondly recalling his friendship with Stephen Fry.

He explained that Stephen was a uniquely gifted speaker, always full of memorable quotes. He recalled a specific instance, saying, ‘Before going to bed, Stephen told me, “Parting is such sweet sorrow, Celia.”‘

The threatening words confirmed her destiny, making her the last contestant to be killed.

As she entered the diary room, she spotted a letter on the chair.

Realising her fate, Celia said: ‘Oh, Lord, this is not a very good sign. Am I dead?’

The letter stated: ‘Dear Celia, those who betrayed us killed you yesterday, right out in the open.’

The actress responded defensively, saying, ‘Honestly, it’s unfair to criticize me just because I removed someone who was being disloyal. I really enjoy being here.’

‘It’s been gorgeous, and I’m devastated. I so wanted to stay till the end, but it’s a game.’

Her friends were deeply upset by the news of her murder, and Joe Marler, a former rugby player, was especially furious about the crime.

An emotional Joe fumed: ‘I miss her already. My darling Celia is gone. My heart is broken.’

This situation has only strengthened my resolve to punish those who have betrayed us. However, I’m exhausted by all of this, and it’s heartbreaking to see good people being harmed.

‘I’m not having it anymore. I need to get the traitors gone, gone, gone.’

The final six players entered a room filled with lasers, and to their surprise, it held the heads of all the contestants who had been revealed as Traitors.

They were instructed to stand on statues at the far side of the room, being careful not to touch the light beams.

The players finished the challenge, increasing the prize money, but they couldn’t stop laughing at how bad the resulting portraits looked.

Looking at Clare Balding depiction, Alan noted: ‘Clare looks like Boris Johnson.’
