One thing you can always count on with *The Traitors* is that the loyal contestants will immediately suspect anyone of being a traitor based on their actions – and the latest celebrity edition is proving to be the same.
For three seasons, the show has featured viewers carefully watching contestants and trying to identify who among them are ‘traitors,’ often making judgments based on small details like what people say, how they look, and seemingly harmless choices.
With many of the celebrities on this show having worked together before, it’s easy to imagine they might be able to tell who’s telling the truth and who isn’t.

Yet, to their detriment, there’s no such luck.
Those who recently met in the Scottish highlands appear to be repeating a common mistake made by groups before them: consistently eliminating the wrong people for no good reason.

Even before these well-known faces were told which category they fell into, some were suspicious.
Okay, so it was SO funny – Celia Imrie actually thought Nick Mohammed had a secret reason for getting her that shield! And then, just minutes after Claudia Winkleman named the traitors, Clare Balding and Charlotte Church totally threw Kate Garraway under the bus for… get this… being a little *too* excited when everything was over. Seriously, it was a wild moment!
Paloma Faith noticed Celia and Clare chatting at the bar and suspected they were scheming as part of the competition, instead of just enjoying a drink.
Niko Omilana was mainly concerned that someone might betray the group, and he told Ruth Codd to trust her instincts if she suspected anyone.
It’s natural for people who are invested in this to try and find meaning in everything they see, as it feels like they’re trying to solve a mystery.
As a fan, what really bothers me is how everything gets overanalyzed. Seriously, every little glance or even just making it through a show without disaster becomes this huge, distorted thing. It’s like people are reading way too much into moments that are just… normal!

Okay, so this is wild. Kate just straight-up called Alan Carr, who’s totally acting shady, one of the ‘faithful’ players. And honestly, it’s happened before – we’ve seen the ‘faithful’ team members defend people who are *clearly* traitors as if they’re on their side! It’s like they’re completely blind to what’s happening, or maybe they’re just really good at lying themselves.
Do you remember Mollie from season two, who was so sure Harry was supporting her, only to find out he’d been deceiving her the whole time to win the competition?
While the celebrities were collaborating to increase the prize money, Clare mistakenly confirmed an important answer before it was time. This led Charlotte to sacrifice her own advantage to help the team.

The incident had two main consequences. First, Tom Daley was unfairly labeled a potential traitor simply because he’s intelligent. Second, he shared a widely inaccurate idea that the ‘traitors’ on the show intentionally removed shields from contestants to put them at risk again.
So, Alan was really getting under my skin, and I started to wonder if Clare’s mistake was actually intentional. It was messed up, but I couldn’t shake the feeling. Then everyone started speculating about Charlotte – was her sacrifice a genuine act of heroism, or was she secretly a traitor who figured she wouldn’t be targeted if she ‘died’? It was a seriously twisted thought, but it kept popping into my head while I was playing.
Actually, Clare mistakenly thought they’d get several attempts – a simple mistake anyone might make – while Charlotte was just trying to help the team.

Although sometimes entertaining, the constant guessing and assumptions became a frustrating pattern throughout the third season of *The Traitors*, which aired earlier this year.
Everyone believed Leanne was a betrayer, but she was actually loyal. Interestingly, even though Leanne had used deception herself about her job, she still questioned Alexander’s trustworthiness.
Alexander arrived to the group later than everyone else, which made people wary, especially after he unexpectedly made it through the dangerous game. Everyone was deeply saddened when he tragically passed away, and he remains a fondly remembered figure from the show.
Throughout history, religious communities have repeatedly ostracized members and then failed to understand why, or learn from the consequences.
Before the first discussion, we anticipate the same patterns emerging as before—unless the celebrity players can work together, learn from previous mistakes, and realize that not every clue is genuine.
Celebrity Traitors is on BBC1 on Wednesdays and Thursdays. You can also catch up on BBC iPlayer.
