Antony Starr, famous for his role as Homelander in The Boys, is stepping into a new role: he’ll be playing Andy Warhol in a new biopic called Samo Lives. He’s undergone a significant change in appearance to prepare for the part.
The new movie tells the story of artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, portrayed by Kelvin Harrison Jr., and his journey to fame in New York City, as he grapples with his personal history and what lies ahead.
He also worked with Andy Warhol, and you can see Ringo Starr transformed into the artist in the photo below – he’s virtually unrecognizable!

Directed by Julius Onah, the movie has finished filming. The cast includes Jeffrey Wright, known from American Fiction, Lukas Gage from The White Lotus, and Kathryn Newton, who appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
In addition to wrapping up the movie Samo Lives, Starr has finished filming his role in the fifth and final season of The Boys. He posted a farewell message on Instagram in August.

It’s hard to express just how amazing this experience has been,” he wrote. “I’ve grown so much, both personally and professionally, and I’ve been lucky to work with an incredible team. This has been the best part of my career. When we started, I couldn’t have imagined what we’d accomplish. It felt like something unstoppable was set in motion, and it just kept going.
Man, I absolutely love this show and playing this character. Seriously, it’s been amazing. I’m really going to miss going to work each day – we always had a clear goal, but the journey to get there was always a surprise. The best part was just having fun and feeling creatively fulfilled. It was an incredible experience.

Working with this complex character gave me the freedom to explore and grow as an artist in ways I didn’t anticipate, and I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunity.
After that, Starr finished his message with something really strange. He said, “We cooked for the last time. Can’t wait to show you what we made.” Then, like he was signing off as Homelander, he wrote, “TIL that day, Homelander, signing off. Xo.” It was so weird, like he was completely disconnecting from everything. As a fan, it really gave me chills!
