The Boys star Erin Moriarty reveals she’s fighting the same autoimmune disease as Wendy Williams
Erin Moriarty recently shared some personal news with her followers, disclosing that she’s been dealing with an autoimmune condition known as Graves’ disease at present.
Actress from “The Boys,” aged 30, who stepped away from social media due to plastic surgery speculations last year, recently reappeared on Instagram to share openly about her personal ‘journey’ with her 2 million followers.
She shared a collection of photos, featuring both self-portraits and glimpses into her daily life over the past few months.
In Moriarty’s words, each person’s autoimmune disease presents uniquely, meaning it affects everyone differently. Your journey with this condition won’t mirror mine, and my story won’t resemble yours. The differences could be significant or subtle.
One point I’d like to make: If I hadn’t attributed everything to stress and exhaustion, I would have detected this issue earlier. About a month ago, I was diagnosed with Graves’ Disease.
Apart from Wendy Williams, celebrities like Daisy Ridley and Missy Elliott have also shared openly about their struggles with an autoimmune condition.

According to the Mayo Clinic, the condition arises due to excess production of thyroid hormones. Some common symptoms associated with this include feeling tired, noticeable swelling of the eyes, rapid or irregular heartbeats, and experiencing anxiety.
After receiving her diagnosis, Erin started receiving treatment for her symptoms, a move that significantly improved her life.
In just a day after starting the therapy, I noticed a return of brightness within me. Since then, this sense of well-being has only grown stronger.
To sum up, the actress emphasized the importance of regular health screenings by saying, ‘If your health seems to be fading, even a little, don’t hesitate to get it checked. Don’t bear the pain and endure suffering; you deserve comfort. Life is already tough enough.’
In certain selfies shared in the post, Moriarty occasionally displayed subtle smiles toward the camera, whereas other photos depicted a weary appearance.
In her past text exchanges with her parents, Erin also revealed the difficulties she was facing due to her symptoms.
In conversation with her mother, the actress expressed: “I’m genuinely in distress; I truly require some respite. Tonight, I’m feeling quite queasy. I feel absolutely awful and disconnected from myself, I can’t continue like this for much longer.
There isn’t a single second or fleeting moment that feels ordinary for me. This has never been my experience – not once.

Moriarty expressed deeply, “It’s more than just exhaustion; it feels like a profound, all-encompassing plea for assistance, and I’m uncertain how much longer I can keep going like this.
She too posted a snapshot of a message she’d sent to her father, implying it was sent following the commencement of her treatment.
I’m already feeling like a completely different person, my initial thought being, ‘Wow, this is how it’s supposed to feel? I’ve been missing out all this time!’ xx.
Erin is known for her role in the Amazon Prime Video series The Boys as Annie January/Starlight.
Apart from Marvel’s Jessica Jones, True Detective, and Red Widow, she has also made appearances in various other television series.
Over the course of my devotion, I’ve had the privilege of being featured in several films throughout the years. These include “The Kings of Summer,” “Captain Fantastic,” and “Catching Dust.
In January of last year, the actress decided to leave social media platforms following Megyn Kelly’s claims that she was excessively fixated on cosmetic procedures.
At that point, Kelly expressed her thoughts as follows: “Her lips resemble those of Kim Kardashian, and her nose has been significantly altered to look almost like a pencil. This reminds me of a possible indication of some mental health issues.

Megyn additionally commented, ‘It seems to me she might have cheek augmentations. An increasing number of young women are opting for this procedure.’
It’s more about a preoccupation with transforming oneself into an unnatural version, rather than a rejection of cosmetic procedures. To me, it seems indicative of some form of psychological distress or imbalance.
This is incredibly disheartening for me. Their actions are truly off-putting. I can’t help but wish I could speak directly to these young women and urge them, “Precious ladies, please reconsider your actions.
Responding to this, Moriarty wrote a detailed message, indicating that she will be stepping away for an extended period, possibly permanently, from Instagram.
Erin told her followers, “I’m keeping my account active for now, but you can think of it as being deactivated since I won’t be using it for a long or possibly permanent time. I won’t be reachable through here.
Connecting through social media didn’t come easily for me, it required a good deal of effort on my part.
The actress expressed shock at the response, the simplistic conclusions drawn, and the previously mentioned video [containing Kelly’s comments], which serves as a clear illustration of such inappropriate behavior.
‘It’s broken my heart. You’ve broken my heart. You’ve lost the privilege of this account.’

Moriarty went on to say, “The manner in which this matter has been discussed, the tone in which I’ve been addressed, is unacceptable to me. I’ve found myself in a difficult predicament personally and it has swallowed me up.
I’ve come to realize that people often hide their struggles behind their online personas. Social media may give an incomplete picture of someone, but regardless of this, there’s never a valid reason for the hurtful words directed towards me or about me.
At that point, the star shared that she had experienced a stressful period in her life, leading to a reduction in her weight.
‘You learn to become Teflon and move on – I had NO idea what was going on this time.

Learning that a video of Megyn Kelly containing offensive, contradictory comments which unintentionally display misogyny has been widely shared has left me utterly shocked.
She additionally commented, ‘It’s shocking how uninformed, inaccurate, and sensationalist the individuals we follow and trust as sources of information can be…’
Not long after leaving social media, the actress was seen in Los Angeles for a solo outing.
The Boys actress made her return to Instagram one week later.
