The Boys Spinoff Gen V’s Season 3 Fate Seemingly Revealed As Prime Video’s Original Show Ends With Season 5

The fate of Gen V has seemingly been revealed ahead of The Boys season 5.

The second season of the Gen V series concluded with Marie Moreau and her group joining forces with Annie January and A-Train as the fight against Homelander and his supporters gained momentum. Although The Boys will conclude with its fifth season, the future of Gen V remains uncertain. Prime Video hasn’t yet decided whether to renew the show for a third season or cancel it.

During a panel at Seattle’s Emerald City Comic Con 2026, actors Karl Urban and Laz Alonso (as reported by Popverse) discussed the future of The Boys. Alonso mentioned that after season 5, the story will likely continue through Gen V and a new show called Vought Rising, effectively carrying on the series’ narrative. While not an official confirmation, this suggests Gen V will be renewed for a third season, and both shows will expand the world of The Boys as the original series concludes.

Mother’s Milk, played by Alonso, is a member of ‘The Boys.’ While he hasn’t appeared in the series Gen V yet, there’s a possibility he could continue his story there if he makes it through the fifth season of The Boys. However, he won’t be in Vought Rising – that show is a prequel set in the 1950s, focusing on a young Soldier Boy and Stormfront, long before Mother’s Milk was even born.

If showrunner Michele Fazekas is correct about Gen V getting a third season, the show will likely need a fresh direction. The first two seasons focused on Marie and her fellow students dealing with the harmful influence of Homelander and Vought. However, The Boys is expected to defeat these major villains in its fifth season, which means a changed landscape for Marie and her friends at Godolkin University and beyond.

While the spin-offs of The Boys have a lot of promise, there’s a risk they could start to resemble the very superhero tropes they’re meant to satirize, leading to audience burnout. The original show’s humor came from poking fun at the endless content of the Vought Cinematic Universe, and with more spin-offs like Gen V season 3, Vought Rising, and The Boys: Mexico on the way – especially once the main Boys storyline ends – that satire could lose its impact. Gen V has so far avoided becoming what it mocks, earning good reviews (94% from critics, 74% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes), but maintaining that balance will be increasingly difficult.

The Boys season 5 begins with a two-episode premiere on April 8 on Prime Video.
