As The Boys heads towards its final season, creator Eric Kripke gave fans an update on how production is going. He shared details about when they expect the fifth and final season to be finished and released.
Eric Kripke gives post-production and release date updates for The Boys Season 5
Kripke announced on Instagram that editing for Season 5 of The Boys is finished. Visual effects, music, and color correction are about 50% complete. He also expressed gratitude for the support of Gen V Season 2 and promised a spectacular final season of The Boys, stating, “We’re working hard to finish it and it’s coming soon!”
In July 2025, Eric Kripke announced that filming for Season 5 of The Boys had wrapped, completing production on the Prime Video series. He recently shared that the team is now fully focused on post-production, and the season is still expected to be released in 2026. Considering previous release patterns, we might see the new season as early as summer 2026.
Past seasons of The Boys have always been released between June and September: Season 1 came out on July 26, 2019, Season 2 on September 4, 2020, Season 3 on June 3, 2022, and Season 4 on June 13, 2024. Given that creator Eric Kripke has suggested the next season will arrive “reasonably soon,” it’s likely to follow this same summer release pattern.
The world of The Boys is growing beyond the main show with several new spin-offs. Gen V has already been renewed for a third season, and more shows are on the way. These include Vought Rising, which will bring back characters like Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and Stormfront (Aya Cash), and The Boys: Mexico, penned by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.
Now that post-production is about 50% finished, showrunner Eric Kripke has indicated that the main ‘The Boys’ series will air before any of its spin-offs. This suggests we’re heading towards a big finale, as the show is planned to have five seasons in total.
