Butcher even pointed out they’re very similar, which could lead Ryan to cooperate with him, even though he doesn’t entirely trust his stepfather.

By episode 2, he’d shifted from seeking Soldier Boy’s approval to feeling like a powerful figure deserving of everything. Earlier on, he was troubled by Stan Edgar’s lack of respect, but now he’s much more confident – even boldly unconcerned with what others think, demonstrated by his shameless behavior like bathing in breast milk in front of Soldier Boy.

He might also be able to find V-One, which could grant him immortality, if any still exists. While season 2 of Gen V hinted that Marie could possibly defeat Homelander, she’s one of only a few characters – along with Soldier Boy, Butcher, and Ryan – who seem to have any real chance of killing the main villain in The Boys.

Therefore, the supe virus is still our best hope for stopping him. However, if he obtains V-One, the virus will likely become ineffective, which is why everyone is so focused on preventing Homelander from getting it.

Homelander’s recent confrontation with Ryan clearly showed how unstable he’s become, making him more frightening than ever before. He doesn’t seem to care about winning people’s approval anymore, and he’s showing no mercy to anyone who gets in his way.

Okay, so the villain, the leader of the Seven, really laid bare his terrifying ambition in this installment. He casually suggested experimenting on the people trapped in those internment camps – using them as guinea pigs, essentially – all in a desperate attempt to bring back V-One. It’s chillingly clear: this isn’t about power or conquest, it’s about achieving immortality, and he’s willing to sacrifice anyone to get it. Seriously, the callousness was shocking.

Stan Edgar’s Capture Is A Massive Win For Homelander

Although The Boys escaped the attack on Stan Edgar’s hideout, Stan himself was captured by the Deep and brought to Homelander – a major victory for the villain. Stan is one of the few people who truly understands V-One and Vought’s past, and he’s always been an enemy of Homelander.

As a fan, I’m really worried about Stan now that Homelander has him. It feels like Homelander will do anything to get information out of him, and even though Stan is one of the few people who doesn’t seem scared of him, Homelander could easily use Zoe against him. I mean, threatening Zoe is a guaranteed way to break Stan and get him to reveal whatever he knows. It’s a really scary thought.

Surprisingly, The Boys actually have a better idea of V-One’s possible location than Stan does right now, though it’s still very helpful to have him held captive. Plus, Homelander can easily eliminate the ex-Vought CEO once he’s no longer useful, removing a powerful enemy.

The end of episode 3 in The Boys season 5 put the heroes in a tough spot. They’re relying on just one file to move forward, while Homelander appears to be completely in control. Meanwhile, Stan, known for being clever and resourceful, might actually assist the villains if it means he can regain power over Vought.
