‘The Boys’ is about to get ‘Supernatural’: Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins join final season
Turns out a “Supernatural” reunion is happening after all — just for a completely different series.
In simpler terms, the popular (anti-) superhero series “The Boys,” produced by Amazon Prime Video, announced on Wednesday that it will bring back Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, and Jensen Ackles from “Supernatural” for its fifth and final season. This upcoming season will also see the reunion of this trio with showrunner Eric Kripke, who originally created the successful CW series, “Supernatural.
Collins and Padalecki are set to appear as guests in upcoming episodes of the show, according to Prime Video, without revealing specifics about their characters. It’s also been confirmed that Ackles will share scenes with both actors. “Supernatural,” which aired on The CW from 2005 to 2020 and starred Ackles and Padalecki as brothers Dean Winchester and Sam Winchester, respectively, featured Collins as Castiel, the angel who joined the Winchesters during their exorcisms.

Superheroes depicted in ‘The Boys’ are gaining more followers, with their latest season of eight episodes being the second most-viewed television series on Amazon Prime Video to date.
In 2020, Jared Ackles became part of the cast for “The Boys” third season. He portrays Soldier Boy, a deranged superhero who was previously a powerful ally in the gang’s battles against the cruel and racist superhuman Homelander (played by Antony Starr).
Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, and Misha Collins recently hinted at a “Supernatural” reunion in an Instagram post for the show’s official account. In separate clips, they both say, “There’s work to be done.” Meanwhile, Padalecki casually displays the iconic Chevy Impala that the Winchester brothers made famous in the background.
“What are we doing?”Collins asks at the end of the video.
Kripke posted the video on his Instagram with the caption: “What shocking stunts will I make Jared and Misha perform next?” For those who are not familiar, “The Boys” is a Prime Video series known for its graphic dark humor, featuring scenes such as exploding body parts and carnivorous, flying sheep. This series has gained a reputation for its pointed criticisms of the media and political extremism, earning high praise along the way.

Television
Eric Kripke, the show’s creator, and actor Antony Starr recently delved into the dramatic conclusion of ‘The Boys’ Season 4, as well as the striking similarities between Homelander and a past U.S. President, namely Donald Trump.
In 2024, Vernon Sanders, the head of television at Amazon MGM Studio, said to The Times that many people might have initially thought a series titled ‘The Boys’ (about flawed superheroes) wouldn’t appeal to them. However, as more and more people heard about it, they decided to give it a try and discovered its depth and complexity.
Alongside Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Karen Fukuhara, Laz Alonso, and Tomer Capone, “The Boys” features in its cast. As of now, Amazon Prime Video has not disclosed the release date for the series’ last season.
