The Block's Paige Beechey slams producers over 'horrific' experience after she quit the show with partner Jesse: 'I was frozen in bed'

As I delve into Paige’s heart-wrenching narrative, it is impossible not to feel a deep sense of empathy and admiration for her strength and courage. Her account of her experiences during ‘The Block’ paints a picture of a woman who was pushed to the brink, struggling with mental health issues that were seemingly ignored or overlooked by the show’s producers.

On Monday evening, Paige and Jesse Maguire departed from The Block following a heated dispute between them, which required intervention by the production team.

Paige took to TikTok on Wednesday to post three expansive videos explaining her side of the story.

In the first video, Paige expressed her feelings by saying, “I guess I’m feeling a bit frustrated because I feel like I’ve dealt with quite a bit during this season, and I haven’t spoken up much.

In my perspective, their approach to that mental health situation appeared more like an attempt to exploit the show’s popularity for perceived relevance, rather than a genuine concern or understanding of the matter.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but notice that they seem to be making a deliberate move towards embracing a more socially aware image. To me, it appears that they’ve seized this moment as an opportunity to advance themselves, potentially compromising on mental health concerns along the way.

Paige mentioned that their four-week stint on the show felt like a “storm of activity” and the initial two weeks of filming went exceptionally well, without any major hiccups.

She claimed the pair had a good relationship with producers who she said referred to her as the “Energizer Bunny.’

But Paige added that it was a different story when it came to post-production.

For two full weeks, I maintained a consistent pace without any interruptions such as temper tantrums, silent protests, disagreements, or anything else disruptive, and it seems that’s not the picture you all observed, Paige remarked.

In the initial two weeks, they didn’t stick with the storyline they wanted us to believe; instead, they crafted a version that bore little resemblance to reality.

She said editors had cut her’s and Jesse’s words into what they called ‘Frankenbites’.

She explained, “They made me say things by inserting complete sentences into what I was saying, which we often refer to as ‘Frankenbites.’

In a haphazard manner, they collected pieces from various places and carelessly merged them all, ensuring each element fit within their desired narrative. However, it was painfully apparent that the pieces didn’t align properly.

They appeared to be deliberately ending discussions to portray me as unstable. Consequently, we found the initial fortnight rather aggravating due to our representation. We were left bewildered, wondering, “Really?

In the sequel to her initial evaluation, Paige expressed that during the third week of the show, she had a truly terrible ordeal as the contestants shifted from their tents into the finished guest rooms.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share my suspicions about what transpired behind the scenes of my favorite show. From what I’ve gathered, it seems that during early mornings, the production crew may have been sneaking into contestants’ rooms while they were still asleep, filming the action for our viewing pleasure.

According to her, it was asserted that the crew would enter our rooms without any previous notice or permission, while we were asleep, without our knowledge or agreement, and film us.

‘Being someone with a background with sexual assault, that was horrific.

In the stillness of my bedroom, I find myself abruptly awakened by an eerie, pitch-black darkness. As I struggle to discern my surroundings, I become aware of three shadowy figures, two or three in number, looming over my bedside. Their presence is chilling and terrifying, a stark reminder that not all encounters are meant to be welcomed. And so, the day begins.

As a fervent admirer, I find myself recounting the experience: “I was pinned down in my resting place, completely immobilized, while vivid hallucinations swept over me like a storm.

Daily Mail Australia doesn’t imply that the producers knew about Paige’s encounters with sexual assault on set.

Paige added that this situation had caused her to ‘spiral’ and started to become ‘paranoid’.

She explained that during the third week, she found herself feeling increasingly isolated each morning because Jesse wasn’t usually with her. This led to a rapid decline in her state, characterized by frequent bouts of derealization, confusion, anxiety, and an excessive level of paranoia. Her mind was filled with distressing scenarios.

Paige explained, “I made a genuine effort to ignore my mental health concerns, yet it seemed nothing could prevent me from becoming upset. Even the smallest things would trigger feelings of unease, fear, and suspicion throughout the day, but I truly gave it my all to stay composed.

In simpler terms, my interactions with Jesse led him to share my situation with a production team. Following these discussions, my early-morning visits ceased. Regrettably, by the time these morning visits ended, it was already past the point of no return for me. I had fallen into a difficult state and was struggling severely.

In addition, Paige mentioned that the response from the producers had left her feeling disillusioned due to her shared struggles with mental wellness.

‘What connects everything and is quite disappointing is that one of the executive producers told me directly, and I’m not exaggerating, “We’ve noticed your situation deteriorate over the past two weeks”… which coincides exactly with when we started staying in the guest rooms.’

‘I stand up for myself and say: ‘”If that was the case why didn’t someone come up and talk to me?”

Paige then claims she was sent a ‘pathetic, get lost in your inbox email.’

After wrapping up the extensive videos, Paige emphasized that additional efforts were necessary to better equip participants for the upcoming event.

‘The Block is over to me,’ she said

All I hope for now is to strongly urge the production team to make substantial changes in the way they prepare contestants as the show goes on.

She concluded by mentioning that most of the team were ‘delightful and charming’ towards both her and Jesse throughout their experience on the program.

It’s thrilling to see the promising youth on this team potentially climbing the ranks and reaching success someday. They’re genuinely great individuals, so I believe their presence will bring a refreshing new energy to the show.
