The Block’s former foreman Keith Schleiger slams clueless contestants as he breaks silence on quitting the show: ‘No idea what they are doing’
As a die-hard fan of The Block, I’ve seen it all – from heartwarming transformations to nail-biting drama. But nothing quite prepared me for Keith Schleiger’s exit from the show. I mean, who would have thought that the man who could make even the most mundane task seem exciting would decide to hang up his tool belt?
Keith Schleiger has broken his silence on his real reasons for leaving The Block.
The fan favourite Foreman left has had a reduced role on the 2024 season of the show.
50-year-old reality television personality has admitted that some contestants lacking knowledge played a role in his decision to leave the show.
He shared on the Your Haus & Home podcast this week that it was like instructing someone with zero building knowledge, who then responded by telling him rudely to mind his own business or leave them alone.
‘All these amateurs, they have got no idea what they are doing, we are building beautiful homes for people. I never got why people would argue with me. It just did not make sense.’
Keith subsequently referred to certain participants as “foolish” and made clear that they ought to adhere to the guidance of supervisors without any hesitation or exceptions.
He admitted that he often became irritable during phone calls, explaining that someone was harassing him without just cause.
Earlier, Keith disclosed that he chose to take a step back from the show, as the extensive travel time to Philip Island for filming was preventing him from spending enough time with his two daughters.
He mentioned to 9Entertainment that it was difficult for him to find opportunities to spend more time with his kids than just once a week.
As a committed follower, I found myself in a situation where commuting from Melbourne wasn’t feasible for me; I would have needed to reside there instead. At that moment in time, it didn’t align with my feelings of what was right. The thought of being away from them for three months seemed unappealing to me.
Keith is happily married to his beloved wife, Rebecca, and together they have two lovely daughters – Ebony, aged 13, and Jasmine, who is 11 years old.
Instead, Keith assured us that fans would catch a glimpse of him during the new season, since he plans to have a short, guest spot.
‘It does feel a bit weird not doing The Block so you’ll see me there for about four or five days.’
On the popular home makeover program broadcasted by Channel Nine, a dose of drama unfolded when it was announced that Keith would be leaving the series.
According to The Herald Sun, Schleiger has announced that he will have occasional absences during the upcoming season due to personal family matters.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but share this piece of news: I had to take a break from my usual round-the-clock commitments due to my priority of nurturing my two precious daughters. This year, with The Block filming on Phillip Island, the need arose, as reported by a Nine spokesperson to a publication.
The spokesperson stated that for a continuous span of three months, he was unable to reach the island. In simpler terms, it seemed an impossible task or an overly challenging endeavor.
However, enthusiasts of Block can take delight in knowing that he’s participating in the filming process for our 20th season, appearing as a special guest.
During the eagerly awaited 2025 season of The Block, the competitors are bound to find themselves with quite a challenge ahead, as a major surprise lies in wait for them.
Even if viewers believe they’ve witnessed every surprising turn on the popular reality TV show, the 2025 season promises to add a previously unseen twist that will leave everyone amazed.
In this new storyline, participants must construct their high-end residences entirely from the ground up on an undeveloped plot. This fresh angle is certain to intensify the existing pressure and anxiety of completing the projects within the given time frame.
For the 2025 season of “The Block”, contestants will be heading to the picturesque central Victorian town of Daylesford, where they’ll need to showcase their skills by constructing their homes from scratch.
Based on information from Realestate.com.au, the planning documents submitted to Hepburn Shire Council outline the construction of five new homes intended to serve as a base for competitors.
Earlier, the participants, known as Blockheads, were assigned to refurbish a pre-existing building. However, for the 2022 season, their task was to renovate houses that were transported to the Gisborne site.
As per the blueprints, competitors are expected to finish constructing a five-bedroom layout, which includes a study room, a living space, and a garage.
The properties will also include other lavish amenities including a covered outdoor area and a heated swimming pool.
The documents from Group Architects propose that the five houses they’ve presented are likely to be similar, energy-efficient, two-story buildings.
Originally planned for Daylesford, The Block’s 2024 season was later relocated to Phillip Island due to a disagreement over plans.
