The Block’s Brad Baker breaks his silence on ‘flirtgate’ scandal with Mimi… and where his ‘destroyed’ marriage with Kylie stands now
As someone who has spent countless hours glued to The Block over the years, witnessing the highs and lows of couples navigating through renovations and real estate challenges, this latest scandal between Brad and Kylie feels like a punch to the gut. Their 7-year marriage crumbling in such a public manner is heartbreaking.
Brad Baker from The Block finally spoke up about the controversy known as ‘flirtgate’, which caused quite a stir during the program’s 20th season.
This week, Brad and his spouse, Kylie, experienced a significant breakdown in their seven-year marriage when Brad publicly stated to another contestant, Mimi Belperio, that he would subscribe to her OnlyFans account if she created one.
Kylie, who was close by, overheard the conversation and dramatically decided to leave the show, temporarily going back to her hometown of Cairns, before reappearing at the Philip Island construction site to end things with Brad on live television.
Regardless of the turmoil that seemingly shredded their marriage, this pair continues to reside under one roof. Both individuals were spotted departing from their residence in Bentley Park, Cairns, on a recent Wednesday.
In conversation with Daily Mail Australia, the man, who is a father of four, declined to share the present state of his marriage, having elapsed several months since the event occurred.
‘I obviously can’t say,’ he said.
‘I never said we’re together, or not.’
With the series nearing its end, the focus of the competitors has shifted towards the crucial auctions scheduled for next Saturday.
However, Brad admitted he does not know whether he and Kylie will attend.
He mentioned, “We haven’t decided yet on that matter, as my wife and I are still discussing it.
‘It’s not ruled out, I guess we will see.’
A friend of the couple previously told Daily Mail Australia Kylie has chosen to stand by her man.
‘Brad and Kylie are together and that is really all Australia needs to know,’ the friend insisted.
‘The split between The Block left their connection severely damaged, and they were getting ready for the public eye in Australia, where people have been quietly discussing the rumors surrounding them.’
This week, the duo was spotted exiting their humble residence in North Queensland’s north region. First, Brad handled the school commute, followed by a coffee run for both him and Kylie upon his return home.
On the television program, Kylie sported a new look with her unique green locks now bleached to a golden shade. As she departed from their shared home, she was dressed elegantly in a lengthy black pencil skirt and a chic zebra pattern halter-neck top.
In the front yard, signs of the couple having four kids were noticeable, as a vibrantly-hued toddler’s plaything was found in the driveway.
On Wednesday evening, Brad admitted to having made inappropriate remarks towards Mimi (who’s married to Kristian on the show) during their conversation over drinks, with Kylie listening nearby.
Subsequently, Kylie confessed that the level of flirting between Brad and Mimi was so intense, it made her suspect they might have been intimately involved privately.
Later on, Brad expressed that he thought their marriage was over and that he alone was responsible for ruining his family through his actions, following Kylie’s unexpected departure from the project.
In simpler terms, she asserted on Wednesday night that if they didn’t persist, they would leave with nothing. Therefore, regardless of the amount – even if it’s $10,000 – she plans to take half of whatever she receives and then depart, leaving the rest to you. She’ll let you keep your house, but she intends to depart.
‘I don’t even know if I’m staying in Cairns to be honest, there’s nothing there for me anymore.
‘You treat your partner like this you can f***ing deal with it.’
She remarked: ‘The most significant issue for me throughout our relationship, including during its early stages, is that you’ve never shown flirtatious behavior towards me as you just did. So, try to understand the impact of such actions on me.’
‘I’m sorry,’ Brad attempted, but Kylie cut in with: ‘Sorry doesn’t fix anything.’
