Sisters Alisa and Lysandra Fraser, the founders of the popular skincare and cleaning brand al.ive, are aiming to make millions by selling the company.
Identical twins and interior designers from Adelaide became well-known after winning the TV show The Block: Sky High in 2013. They then opened their own design studio in 2014.
In 2020, the company expanded its offerings to include physical products, introducing al.ive body and al.ive skin lines. These focus on high-quality personal care items and home necessities.
The Australian Financial Review reports that the sisters have hired Lempriere Wells, a specialized advisory firm, to manage the sale process.
According to sources familiar with the company, it’s currently generating around $30 million in revenue. Roughly half of this comes from online sales, while the other half is generated through wholesale agreements with retailers like Myer.
The Frasers are aiming to make at least $25 million from the sale of their Adelaide-based company, and current records show they each own 50% of the business.
Alisa and Lysandra started al.ive during the Covid-19 pandemic. The increase in online shopping while people stayed home helped the brand grow quickly at first.
Alisa and Lysandra recently told the Mail that their brand, al.ive, had a very successful launch, earning $70,000 in sales during its first month.
They explained in a 2020 interview that their success was due to the growing popularity of online shopping and strong interest from small, online boutiques.
The pair explained that the idea for al.ive came to them after completing a renovation project.
Alisa explained that after finishing their Albert Park home renovation, they were relaxing on the beach and realized how hard it was to find hand and body products that matched their home’s style and were made with natural, safe ingredients.
We initially thought about collaborating with existing brands to help create a product. However, we then decided we could achieve something even greater by launching our own brand from scratch.
They came up with a clear idea of what their products would be and how to make them a reality.
Okay, so let me tell you, we had a vision. It had to be absolutely perfect, and honestly, chasing that perfection? It took a toll. It wasn’t just money, it was… everything. It really pushed us, you know? But it was worth it, totally worth it, to get it just right.
We were determined to create a personal care line that combined beautiful, high-quality products with ethical and sustainable practices, appealing to customers who care about those values.
Alisa and Lysandra were police officers before winning The Block’s 2013 season.
The auction earned them a profit of $295,000, and when combined with a $100,000 prize, their total winnings reached $395,000.
The twins then returned the following year, but only took out two Room Reveal wins.
In 2022 they made a return to the franchise as guest judges.
