The Big Bang Theory’s new spin-off with returning stars shares exciting update

Great news for fans of *The Big Bang Theory*! The spin-off series, *Stuart Saves the Universe*, is officially in production. HBO Max announced the show in July, and now, only two months later, filming has begun.

I was so excited to see Bill Prady, one of the creators of *The Big Bang Theory*, post a little sneak peek on Instagram! He didn’t show a ton, but I definitely spotted the show’s logo, and it looks like it has the same atom symbol as the original series. His caption, “Here we go!”, just got me even more hyped!

So, I’m really excited about this new show, *Stuart Fails to Save the Universe*. It’s about Stuart Bloom, who owns a comic book store, and Kevin Sussman is playing him again, which is awesome!

Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn, and John Ross Bowie-who played Denise, Bert Kibbler, and Barry Kripke on *The Big Bang Theory*-will be returning for this project.

In the series, Stuart has to fix a major problem: he damaged a machine created by Sheldon and Leonard, which unexpectedly unleashed a multiversal catastrophe, and now he must restore everything.

Along the way, Stuart gets help from his girlfriend Denise (Lapkus), his friend Bert, who is a geologist (Posehn), and Barry Kripke (Bowie), a quantum physicist who’s often difficult to deal with.

Okay, so the story follows these guys as they run into different versions of the characters we already know and love from *The Big Bang Theory*. And let me tell you, things get pretty chaotic – it’s not a smooth ride at all!

Okay, so the idea for this new show feels a bit different than what we’re used to with *The Big Bang Theory* and even *Young Sheldon*. But apparently, that’s totally intentional! Chuck Lorre, one of the creators, has said they *want* it to feel separate and fresh.

He explained in a statement that he aimed for something bold and challenging, a project that would push his boundaries. He envisioned it as something the characters from *The Big Bang Theory* would have passionately debated and reacted strongly to.

After 12 seasons and 279 episodes, *The Big Bang Theory* ended in 2019. Its spin-off, *Young Sheldon*, concluded in May, and a few months later, another spin-off, *Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage*, premiered.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe does not yet have a release date.
