The Big Bang Theory gets channel swap in the US
As a long-time fan who has laughed through countless episodes of The Big Bang Theory, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia with its recent move to Nickelodeon and MTV. Growing up, I remember the joy of coming home from school and catching those hilarious antics on CBS. Now, here we are, years later, and the show is finding new life on channels that I never thought I’d associate with it!
The Big Bang Theory has found a new home in the United States.
Initially broadcast on CBS, the program concluded just prior to CBS’s merger with Paramount. Recently, it was announced that the show will be aired on Nickelodeon and MTV, both of which are owned by Paramount.
Starting from the day after tomorrow (December 24th), the Nickelodeon’s Nick at Nite programming block, known for airing reruns of classic sitcoms, will feature two consecutive nights filled with holiday-themed episodes of “Big Bang” in a continuous broadcast.
Starting this coming Friday, December 27th, you’ll find the episodes airing from the stroke of midnight up until 2 a.m., commencing with season 4.
On New Year’s Day, MTV will broadcast an extended marathon of season 3 episodes. From that day forward, the show will be shown every Saturday and Sunday.
Currently, the program is still planned to broadcast on TBS and can also be streamed through Warner Bros Discovery’s streaming platform, Max.
Lauren Weir, executive vice president and head of programming at Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks, expressed excitement in announcing that ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is rejoining the Paramount family. This move strengthens our comedy offerings for Nick at Nite and MTV,” as reported by Variety.
Our main focus is to provide entertaining and culturally relevant content to our viewers. Adding “The Big Bang Theory” to our extensive collection of comedies on all our channels will offer our audience some of the greatest comedic shows ever produced on TV.
The Big Bang Theory of the universe continues to thrive. Lately, the prequel series Young Sheldon has spawned another prequel titled Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, and there’s even talk about a third spin-off being developed.
You won’t likely see a reunion with the original cast members, since Jim Parsons himself has expressed his disinterest in such an event.
In the United Kingdom, you can catch reruns of The Big Bang Theory on E4, or stream it on various platforms such as Channel 4’s service, Sky Go, Netflix, or Amazon Prime Video.
