Get your remotes (or streaming devices) ready and hit play on these new TV shows now airing.
Run Away
Inspired by the novel of the same name, Run Away tells the story of a family falling apart after their daughter, who struggled with drug addiction and had become distant, goes missing. When the father, Simon, becomes a suspect in a murder investigation, he uncovers a web of family secrets and a surprising connection to a cult.
Where to watch Run Away: All episodes are streaming now on Netflix.
Best Medicine
The new Fox comedy, Best Medicine, follows a highly skilled but socially awkward surgeon from Boston. After relocating to a small coastal town, his blunt bedside manner, unusual fears, and general lack of social skills comically clash with his new patients.
You can watch Best Medicine on Fox every Tuesday at 8 PM Eastern Time. It’s also available to stream with a Hulu or Disney+ subscription.
His & Hers
The thriller limited series His & Hers, starring Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal, is based on a novel of the same name. It centers on a couple going through a separation who start to suspect each other when a strange murder occurs in their community.
Where to watch His & Hers: All episodes are streaming now on Netflix.
The Valley: Persian Style
Following the success of Bravo’s The Valley, The Valley: Persian Style catches up with familiar faces from Shahs of Sunset – MJ, Reza, and GG – as they adjust to life in the suburbs. The show highlights the joys and challenges they face with their relationships, friendships, and work.
You can watch The Valley: Persian Style on Bravo Thursdays at 9 PM Eastern Time. New episodes are also available to stream on Peacock starting Fridays.
Coldwater
I just finished watching Coldwater, and it’s a gripping new British thriller. Andrew Lincoln, who you probably know from The Walking Dead, plays John, a man trying to escape a troubled past in London by relocating his family to a remote Scottish village. But peace doesn’t last long. As John gets friendly with his neighbor, Tommy – a character who immediately feels off – things start to unravel, and a whole lot of disturbing secrets come to light. It’s a slow burn, but this six-part series really gets under your skin.
You can watch new episodes of Coldwater on Paramount+ every Friday. They will also air on Showtime on Sundays at 9 PM Eastern Time.
The 10 Best TV Shows of 2025

1. The Pitt
In just a few hours, a hospital can see a remarkable range of medical emergencies – and the new TV show The Pitt aims to show it all. Starring Noah Wyle (known from ER), the show follows Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, a seasoned doctor at a Pittsburgh hospital’s emergency room. Each episode takes place in real-time, covering a single hour of the day from 7 AM to 9 PM, as Dr. Robby and his team deal with a constant stream of patients suffering from everything imaginable – from severe injuries like degloved feet and nail gun wounds, to conditions like testicular torsion and even mercury poisoning. Despite their own personal challenges, the doctors focus on one thing: saving lives.

2. Severance Season 2
The new season of Severance feels incredibly exciting now that so many people have watched the show’s first season. With many storylines left unfinished, the second season had a lot to cover. The premiere expanded on the show’s complex world and the mysteries surrounding Lumon, adding new questions for every answer it provided. We also saw the characters’ relationships become more complicated, with the introduction of a fake Helly and a Mark who may be sharing his mind with another personality. The season finale was full of surprises and left us eagerly awaiting the third season!

3. Common Side Effects
This year saw a surge in popularity for shows about conspiracies, and if you enjoy that genre with a touch of science fiction like The X-Files, the animated series Common Side Effects might be perfect for you. It comes from one of the creators of the excellent sci-fi show Scavengers Reign and tells the story of two old high school friends who reunite after finding a blue mushroom with incredible healing powers. They soon find themselves on the run from a pharmaceutical company eager to replicate the mushroom’s abilities. With charming animation, detailed visuals, and a cast of memorable characters, this is a show we hope will continue for many seasons – as long as the characters keep discovering those life-saving mushrooms!

4. Adolescence
Netflix’s acclaimed series, Adolescence, is a unique and critical look at modern teen life online. The show centers around 13-year-old Jamie Miller, who is accused of murder after a classmate – someone he admits bullied him online – is found dead. Each of the three episodes unfolds in a single, unbroken shot, following Jamie’s arrest, police interviews with those who know him, and the impact on his family. Adolescence honestly portrays the growing disconnect between adults and today’s digitally-native youth, highlighting the challenges of cyberbullying and complex social issues that parents and teachers often struggle to understand or address.

5. Andor Season 2
After a string of disappointing Star Wars shows on Disney+, Andor, a prequel to Rogue One, felt like a breath of fresh air. It presented a grittier, more realistic side of the Star Wars universe, focusing on the origins of the Rebellion without relying on Jedi or flashy aliens. The show explored the true meaning of revolution – how much hardship people will endure before fighting back, and what that fight truly costs. What made Andor so strong was its limited connection to the wider Star Wars saga, beyond a single movie. Thankfully, it told a complete story in just two seasons, though many viewers would have happily watched a five-season run.

6. Dept. Q
When the Scottish government asked the police to focus on older, unsolved crimes to improve public trust, they assigned antisocial detective Carl Morck to the task. He was given a hidden basement office and tasked with reviewing these cold cases. But Morck quickly assembled an unlikely team and began investigating the disappearance of a local prosecutor, a case that turned out to be far more complex than anyone imagined. This marks the beginning of Dept. Q, a gripping and instantly captivating police thriller series created by Scott Frank, the acclaimed writer behind Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit. Featuring a fantastic cast and a compelling storyline, this series is perfect for binge-watching, and the ending will leave you eager for more.

7. Alien: Earth
As a big fan of the Alien franchise, I was pretty skeptical when I heard about a prequel TV series, especially after some of the previous attempts to expand the universe didn’t quite land. But honestly, I was totally blown away! Noah Hawley, the creator of Fargo, really delivered something special. He and the cast of Alien: Earth created a story that went in a direction I never saw coming. It’s about these incredibly advanced androids, basically like children, who have human consciousnesses, and it follows their first encounter with alien life. It’s a really bold, thrilling show, and yeah, it’s definitely got that signature Alien gross-out factor. That tentacled eye creature? Instant classic!

8. The Chair Company
One of the year’s best comedies, The Chair Company, features comedian Tim Robinson as a project manager who becomes fixated on a chair manufacturer. He believes the company is hiding a larger, more sinister scheme by selling defective office chairs. The show relies on the same humor that makes Robinson’s comedy so funny: the ridiculousness of office life, people overreacting to small things, and awkward men struggling with their image and social standing.

9. IT: Welcome to Derry
Beyond conspiracy theories, 2025 saw a surge in prequel series, with many popular movie franchises expanding their stories on television. A standout among these was IT: Welcome to Derry, HBO’s prequel to the IT movies, which explored Pennywise’s earlier encounters with the people of Derry, Maine. This series cleverly returns the story to the 1960s, the original time period of Stephen King’s novel (the films had moved the setting to the 1980s to tap into nostalgia for that era). Welcome to Derry is arguably even scarier than the movies, delivering truly terrifying moments and a more in-depth look at the origins of Pennywise – and how it all fits within the broader Stephen King universe.

10. Pluribus
Vince Gilligan, the creator of popular sci-fi shows, returned to the genre this year with Pluribus, a unique take on the alien invasion story. The show centers on Carol Sturka, a romance novelist, who finds herself among the last individuals remaining after a strange substance combines most of humanity into a single, collective consciousness. Determined to avoid being absorbed into this hive mind, she races to find a solution, but also feels a pull towards it, craving connection while fearing its intentions. Beneath the high-concept plot, Pluribus explores relatable themes like loneliness, depression, the search for love, and the pain of feeling isolated.
