The best looks from the 2025 Academy Museum Gala red carpet

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures hosted its fifth yearly fundraising gala on Saturday at its location on Wilshire Boulevard. The event was attended by many famous stars.

The opening gala of the film museum in 2021 drew a crowd of stars, including Kim Kardashian, Selena Gomez, Demi Moore, and Elle and Dakota Fanning, who were almost unrecognisable. The event helps raise money for the museum’s exhibits, educational programs, and public events.

Last year’s Academy Museum gala raised over $11 million through donations. The event celebrated filmmakers and actors Quentin Tarantino, Paul Mescal, and Rita Moreno.

Movies

The Academy Museum is debuting its biggest exhibition focused on a single film, showcasing costumes and items from the movie that essentially created the modern summer blockbuster.

This year’s gala celebrated Penélope Cruz, Walter Salles, Bowen Yang, and Bruce Springsteen. Springsteen received a new ‘Legacy Award’ and even performed at the event. Fans can also look forward to a new movie about the rock star, with Jeremy Allen White playing Springsteen, which will be released in theaters on October 24th.

Bruce Springsteen and Penélope Cruz, this year’s Icon Award winner, have both won Academy Awards. Springsteen received his for the original song “Streets of Philadelphia,” which he wrote for the 1993 film *Philadelphia* starring Tom Hanks, and Cruz won for her performance in the 2008 film *Vicky Cristina Barcelona*.

Filmmaker Gabriel Salles won the Luminary Award and earned Brazil its first Academy Award for an international film with his heartfelt movie, “I’m Still Here.” Fernanda Torres received an Oscar nomination for her performance as the mother in the film, released in 2024.

Bowen Yang, known for his work on “Saturday Night Live” and the “Las Culturistas” podcast, has received the Vantage Award, which recognizes artists and scholars who offer fresh perspectives on film. He’ll also reprise his role as Pfannee in the upcoming movie “Wicked: For Good,” scheduled for release on November 21st.

Music

While fans eagerly anticipate the next installment of the hit Broadway show, the actress who famously played Elphaba is now releasing a soulful album with a gentler, more personal sound.

Guests at the gala were generous with both their donations and their fashion choices. Jenna Ortega wore a modern halter top by Grace Ling, Rachel Zegler evoked classic Hollywood glamour in a Tamara Ralph Couture gown, Olivia Rodrigo chose a vintage dress by Giorgio Armani Privé, and Eva Longoria stunned in Elie Saab.
