A new version of Baywatch is in the works, following the 2017 movie with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Zac Efron. The first actor cast is Stephen Amell, known for his roles in Arrow and Suits LA. He’ll be playing Hobie Buchannon, the son of Mitch Buchannon, a popular character from the original series played by David Hasselhoff.
Brandon Call originally played the part in the show’s first season and pilot episode, but Jeremy Jackson took on the role for the following nine seasons and a later reunion movie.
Okay, so the new show has Hobie as a Baywatch captain, and it’s cool because he’s trying to follow in his dad Mitch’s footsteps – though they haven’t announced who’s playing Mitch yet! But things get really interesting when a daughter he didn’t even know about suddenly shows up. She wants to be a lifeguard too, which is awesome, but I’m really wondering if he’s going to be open to getting close to her. It’s going to be a complicated relationship, I can feel it!

Showrunner Matt Nix said Stephen Amell immediately delivered what the new Baywatch series needed: genuine emotion, powerful energy, and a strong heroic presence.
He’s a dynamic lead actor – brave, emotionally resonant, and incredibly engaging. We can’t wait to begin working with him.

Fox has ordered a first season of the show with 12 episodes. They plan to refresh the series while keeping what viewers love – intense, life-or-death situations, dramatic relationships, and the iconic, slow-motion shots of the cast in their signature bright red swimsuits.
The original Baywatch series was known for its popular stars, such as David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.

The show also featured early appearances from several future stars, including Carrie-Anne Moss, Bryan Cranston, Mila Kunis, and Michelle Williams. In fact, it was Michelle Williams’ very first time appearing on screen.
The new Baywatch does not currently have a release date.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant, full-color 100-page magazine celebrating Taylor Swift, is now available! You can purchase it at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
