‘The Batman’s Robert Pattinson Had a Secret Cameo in ‘Marty Supreme’

Timothée Chalamet’s Golden Globe-winning film, Marty Supreme, features a secret celebrity contribution to its soundtrack, as director Josh Safdie recently shared with Edith Bowman. The movie, which tells the story of a talented young table tennis player growing up in New York City, marks Safdie’s first solo directing project – he previously collaborated with his brother Benny on films like Heaven Knows What, Good Time, and Uncut Gems. Surprisingly, Marty Supreme has been performing well at the box office, even competing with James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash, and this success is even more remarkable considering audiences don’t yet know about Robert Pattinson’s appearance in the film.

You read that right – the actor who plays Batman is appearing in a role in Marty Mauser’s world! According to Variety, the actor plays the announcer for the British Open during the protagonist’s semi-final match against Bela Kletzki, a player from Hungary.

It’s a fun secret that the voice you hear – the commentator or umpire – actually belongs to Pattinson. It’s a little hidden surprise! Most people don’t realize it. He just came to observe, and since I didn’t know anyone from Britain, he ended up being the umpire.

It’s been nine years since Robert Pattinson and director Josh Safdie last collaborated on the crime thriller Good Time. In that film, Pattinson played Connie Nikas, a character driven by a desperate mission: freeing his brother, who has developmental disabilities, from police custody.

What Are Robert Pattinson’s Upcoming Roles?

Warner Bros.

After a successful 2025 with acclaimed directors Bong Joon Ho (in Mickey 17) and Lynne Ramsay (Die My Love), Robert Pattinson’s upcoming year looks even more promising. In April, he’ll release The Drama, a film about a couple facing difficulties just before their wedding. This will be followed by his second movie with Christopher Nolan, The Odyssey, which is expected to be a major summer release. In this large-scale fantasy, Pattinson plays Antinous, one of the men trying to marry Queen Penelope while the Trojan War hero, King Odysseus, is away.

Shortly before Christmas, Stellan Skarsgård will face off against Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides as the villainous Scytale in Dune: Part Three. If you’re curious about this enigmatic character created by Frank Herbert, we have a detailed explanation for you.

Don’t forget about Here Comes the Flood, which Robert Pattinson filmed with Denzel Washington last November. While it doesn’t have a release date yet, it’s described as an unusual heist story focusing on a bank guard, a teller, and a professional thief, and will eventually be available on Netflix and in theaters. As for the highly anticipated sequel to The Batman, director Matt Reeves is planning to begin production in Spring 2026. He’s also mentioned how Pattinson reacted when he first read the script for The Batman: Part II.

Knowing he’s Batman, his approval was crucial. I was really hoping he’d like it, because it explored aspects of his character – both Batman and Bruce Wayne – in a completely new way. I had a good feeling he would, and when he did, it was incredibly rewarding.
