The Batman Game Rumoured Then Quickly Debunked by Director James Gunn

As a dedicated Batman fan since I was a kid, growing up with the dark knight’s tales, it’s always a thrill to hear about potential new games set in the iconic universe. However, I must admit, I’ve learned to take rumors with a grain of salt after years of disappointment.

Reports suggesting a video game set in the Batman movie franchise, enlarging with the impending The Penguin series featuring Colin Farrell as the main antagonist, were quickly dismissed by director and DC Studios joint head, James Gunn.

regretfully, there is absolutely no basis to this at all, Gunn stated in the discussion regarding Threads, addressing unfounded speculation from Puck News (as reported by GameSpot) about a potential game tied to director Matt Reeves’ The Batman, featuring Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader.

As a gamer, I’ve been missing my dark knight fix for quite some time now. It’s not exactly shocking that there isn’t a new Batman game in development, especially since the last console-worthy Bats title, “Batman: Arkham Knight,” dropped back in 2015. The upcoming Batman: Arkham Shadow on Meta Quest 3 is exciting, but it doesn’t quite fill the void left by the Caped Crusader’s absence from his own game for close to a decade.

Indeed, this year, Batman from the Arkham universe made an appearance as a mind-controlled villain in “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League”, but that’s as close as we’ve gotten so far. However, a sequel to “The Batman” is on its way, but before that, “The Penguin” series will premiere on HBO Max (or Sky Atlantic) starting from 19th September.

Still, you can always play as The Batman with a free R.Patz skin in Batman: Arkham Knight. Better than nothing, I guess.
