The Bachelorette’s Bill Goldsmith and fiancée Isabelle Eisermann share bittersweet post on New Year’s Eve following tragic death of daughter Olive: ‘The hardest year we’ve faced’

Bill Goldsmith has shared a heart-rending update following the death of his daughter Olive.

The Bachelorette’s Isabelle Eisermann and her fiancé experienced the heartbreaking loss of their daughter, Olive, who was stillborn in November.

Bill shared his thoughts on Instagram Wednesday about a challenging but happy year, recalling his proposal to Isabelle back in July.

He posted a series of touching photos on Instagram, including pictures of his family with their daughter and memories from when he proposed to his partner on the beach.

The post featured pictures of Isabelle and Bill happily anticipating their baby, as well as a photo of Isabelle in the hospital, excited before the delivery.

‘This year gave us so much and took so much at the same time,’ Bill captioned the post.

He went on to say that getting engaged, experiencing so much joy together, and creating lasting memories were things he’d always cherish.

In spite of the joy, Bill added that losing his daughter had irrevocably changed the couple.

He described it as the most difficult year of their lives. The loss of their beloved Olive, combined with constant hospital trips, profoundly changed them in ways they hadn’t anticipated.

‘There were days that felt impossibly heavy, and moments where just getting through was enough.’

Bill concluded the heartfelt post by writing: ‘These pictures capture all the happiness, love, sadness, and resilience we found along the way. We’ll always carry Olive in our hearts and remember her in everything we do.’

Isabelle was quick to comment on Bill’s post with a heartfelt: ‘I love you so much.’

Another follower offered a hopeful: ‘Wishing you a 2026 filled with happiness and joy.’

My heart absolutely broke when Bill and Isabelle shared the news on Instagram last November. They posted such tender, heartbreaking black-and-white photos of them holding their little girl, and it was just devastating to see.

Our baby girl, Olive May Goldsmith, was stillborn on Thursday, October 31st, at 4:14 a.m. She was 27 weeks along.

She fought incredibly hard, particularly in recent weeks, despite facing overwhelming challenges. She consistently amazed her doctors and midwives with her resilience, continuing to persevere until her body could no longer continue.

The couple added they were still processing the news.

They described a love unlike any they’d ever experienced, and a pain to match. The phrase ‘no heartbeat’ will stay with them always, they shared.

The couple said they spent three days with Olive in hospital after her birth.

They spent hours cuddling and kissing their baby, making sure she felt loved and cherished. They also enjoyed simple moments like dressing her, reading to her, singing, and taking her outdoors, constantly telling her how perfect she was.

Saying goodbye to Olive was the most difficult experience of our lives. It’s something no parent should ever face – leaving the hospital without their baby is heartbreaking.

Our sweet Olive, we loved you more than words can say. You were so strong and brave right to the very end, and your courage helped your mom and dad get through this incredibly difficult time.

Bill and Isabelle announced they were expecting a baby in September, just two months after getting engaged.

Isabelle announced she’s expecting a baby in January 2026, and playfully noted how quickly time is passing, saying her current child is already halfway grown!

Goldsmith shot to fame as an early frontrunner on Ali Oetjen’s season of The Bachelorette in 2018.
