Naga Munchetty earned a significant amount of money – tens of thousands of pounds – from public appearances over the summer, even though she was being investigated for bullying and there were concerns about her job security.
This involved receiving over £10,000 from Mastercard to lead a discussion about achieving success through resilience.
Every three months, the BBC releases a list of how much its prominent staff members have earned from outside work. Naga Munchetty, who has recently faced criticism, has consistently been among the highest earners reported in these lists.
The Daily Mail has learned she earned up to £56,000 last year through various appearances, including giving speeches, leading Q&A sessions for companies, and presenting awards at corporate events.
Even though Naga Munchetty is one of the BBC’s top earners, making between £355,000 and £360,000 a year, she continues to earn significant additional income during the summer months.
In September, amidst accusations of bullying during her time on BBC Breakfast, she spoke at a large cybersecurity conference hosted by Mastercard. The event was held at the luxurious five-star Waldorf Hotel, Rome Cavalieri.

Naga delivered the keynote speech at the two-day event and led a discussion called ‘Strength in Motion – the Pathway to Success’. Olympic boxing champion Nicola Adams also participated in the conversation.
She earned between £5,000 and £10,000 in July for hosting The Grocer Magazine Awards at the Royal Albert Hall.
In August, she earned up to £1,000 for speaking at the Queens Park Literary Festival in London. She discussed her book, It’s Probably Nothing, which shares her personal experiences with how women are often dismissed or failed by the medical system.
Over the three summer months, she earned up to £21,000. Her payment from Mastercard could have been anything above £10,000.
I’ve been following this story closely, and it seems The Daily Mail reached out to both Naga Munchetty’s team and the BBC for a statement. Unfortunately, they’ve stuck to their policy of not discussing private issues concerning their employees, so we haven’t gotten any official word yet.
In August, reports surfaced from people working with her that she had been acting harshly and like a bully, both on the breakfast television show and her Radio 5 Live program. Several colleagues had apparently raised these concerns internally.
Managers initially started a review of the situation, but after more complaints came in, it’s now become a formal investigation.
Concerns about Naga Munchetty’s behavior surfaced after Richard Frediani, the editor of BBC Breakfast, took a leave of absence. This followed an internal investigation into claims of bullying and misconduct within the program.

Reports in September indicated he wouldn’t face investigation after being cleared of any misconduct, a decision that reportedly angered BBC Breakfast hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt.
Naga was reportedly reprimanded by company executives after a junior colleague accused them of bullying.
Reportedly, she was called into a meeting after making a sexually suggestive comment during a break in her radio show in 2022.
The presenter allegedly used offensive language referencing a sexual act and asked a coworker if they had ever participated in it.
Naga’s co-host Charlie Stayt also remains ‘under review’, according to the publication.
Naga Munchetty has parted ways with her agency, M&C Saatchi, the same firm that recently stopped working with BBC’s Jermaine Jenas following a personal scandal involving inappropriate messages.
Her new agents have reportedly ‘held talks with rival station LBC’ to explore other opportunities.
The female journalist earns nearly twice as much as her co-host, Charlie, who is 63 years old. He continues to earn around £190,000, and reports suggest there’s significant tension between them.
