A popular series from The Arrowverse is leaving Netflix soon, which will make it harder for fans to revisit the old DC superhero shows online. The Arrowverse started in 2012 with Arrow, telling the story of how Oliver Queen became a hero in Star City. It grew when Barry Allen appeared in a surprise crossover with Arrow. As the universe expanded, other famous DC heroes like Supergirl, Firestorm, Black Canary, and Superman were also introduced.
For twelve years, from 2012 to 2024, The CW was home to a connected universe of DC superhero shows, often called the Arrowverse. This universe was known for its large-scale crossover events, with the most ambitious being “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” which cleverly referenced both older and newer DC properties – even including a connection to the DC Extended Universe with an appearance by Ezra Miller as The Flash. This history makes the Arrowverse popular with dedicated fans, but recent news about one of its shows moving to streaming suggests a challenging road ahead.
What’s on Netflix reported that the show *Arrow* will no longer be available on Netflix U.S. after December 18, 2025, and fans are now speculating about where they’ll be able to watch it next. Removing *Arrow* will make it more difficult for viewers to watch the entire Arrowverse series.
As of October 2023, the series *Arrow* is no longer available on Netflix in any international region. It originally joined Netflix in the U.S. as part of a deal between Netflix and The CW during the 2010s, giving Netflix the rights to these shows for at least five years after their final seasons aired. With *Arrow* concluding on January 28, 2020, its five-year streaming period on Netflix has now ended.
Created by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg, *Arrow* tells the story of Oliver Queen, a wealthy socialite who becomes a dedicated hero in Star City. The show stars Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Emily Bett Rickards, Caity Lotz, Colton Haynes, and Willa Holland. *Arrow* first aired on The CW on October 10, 2012, and continued for eight seasons.
Every Arrowverse Show & Where To Watch Them
Arrow – Netflix
Arrow was essential to the Arrowverse, with Oliver Queen being its central figure until his death in *Crisis on Infinite Earths*. While he did reappear briefly during a special crossover event in the final season of *The Flash*, he remained a foundational character.
Though it will leave Netflix on December 18, 2025, *Arrow* is incredibly important to the Arrowverse. The show first introduced key characters – including Sara Lance, Dinah Lance, Mia Queen, and John Diggle – who went on to become central figures in the larger universe.
The Flash – Netflix
While *Arrow* launched the Arrowverse, *The Flash* quickly became just as crucial, largely due to Barry Allen’s story. The series introduced key ideas like the Multiverse, time travel, and metahumans, which became foundational to the shared universe and drove its storytelling for years.
Currently, you can still watch *The Flash* on Netflix. However, according to What’s on Netflix, it will be removed from the platform on November 28, 2028.
After nine seasons, *The Flash* has finished airing. The show ended with the merging of universes following the *Crisis on Infinite Earths* event, concluding the story on Earth Prime.
Vixen – Currently Unavailable
Vixen is an animated online series that takes place within the Arrowverse. It features Mari McCabe, a hero known as Vixen, who has the ability to copy the powers of different animals. Following the animated series, the character also appeared in a live-action role on Season 4, Episode 15 of the TV show *Arrow*.
Although Mari didn’t reappear on *Arrow* after her initial appearance, one of her ancestors, Amaya Jiwe, became a key character in later seasons of *Legends of Tomorrow*.
Vixen is currently unavailable to stream.
Supergirl – Netflix
Completing the core group of DC superhero shows on The CW is Supergirl, starring Melissa Benoist. After a strong first season on CBS, the series moved to The CW, which allowed it to explore bigger storylines and team up with other heroes in crossover events.
Supergirl officially joined the Arrowverse during the 2016 crossover event, “Invasion!”, assisting Team Arrow, Team Flash, and the Legends in defeating the Dominators. She went on to be a key player in other large Arrowverse events, including “Crisis on Earth-X” and “Crisis on Infinite Earths”.
You can still watch *Supergirl* on Netflix, but it will be removed on December 15, 2026. The series concluded with its sixth season in November 2021, and you can find more information about Melissa Benoist’s thoughts on the final season online.
Legends of Tomorrow – Netflix
I’m a huge fan of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow! The show centers around this incredible team of heroes, all pulled from different points in time, who work together to safeguard the timeline from all sorts of dangers. It’s amazing to watch Sara Lance as the White Canary, alongside Ray Palmer as the Atom, and Rip Hunter, plus Hawkgirl, Captain Cold, Firestorm, and Heatwave – they make such a unique and compelling team!
Beyond its own engaging time-travel adventures, *Legends of Tomorrow* played a key role in introducing more obscure characters within the Arrowverse. This allowed the show to build them up before featuring them in larger crossover events like *Crisis* and *Invasion*.
You can still watch all seven seasons of Legends of Tomorrow on Netflix, but it will be removed from the service on September 2, 2027. The show originally finished airing on The CW in March 2022.
Freedom Fighters: The Ray – Available on Digital
The Crisis on Earth-X storyline brought together heroes from Earth-1 with evil, alternate-universe versions of themselves from Earth-X, who were Nazis. This event also featured the debut of the Freedom Fighters, a team led by a new hero named The Ray (Ray Terrill from DC Comics).
The animated film *Freedom Fighters: The Ray* tells the story of how the hero known as The Ray came to be and how he joined the Freedom Fighters—a group of heroes comparable to the Sons of Liberty seen in Season 2 of *Peacemaker*. It also sets the stage for the events of *Crisis on Earth-X*.
The cartoon first launched on CW Seed on December 8, 2017, and you can now buy it on popular online stores.
Black Lightning – Netflix
The series *Black Lightning* centered on Jefferson Pierce, a former superhero who had to come out of retirement when a dangerous gang threatened his city, Freeland. Although the show didn’t initially connect with the *Arrowverse*, it later became part of that universe during the *Crisis on Infinite Earths* event, where Black Lightning helped Team Flash fight off a devastating antimatter wave.
After the Crisis event, Black Lightning joined The League, which is the Arrowverse’s take on the Justice League. He later reappeared in Season 8 of The Flash during the Armageddon crossover, further connecting him to the wider Arrowverse.
Black Lightning is streaming on Netflix, and it will leave the streamer on September 1, 2026.
Batwoman – HBO Max
The character Kate Kane (played by Ruby Rose) was first introduced in the *Elseworlds* event and continued her story in the first season of *Batwoman*. She later teamed up with other heroes in *Crisis on Infinite Earths*. However, Ruby Rose left the show before Season 2, and Javicia Leslie stepped in to play a new version of Batwoman, Ryan Wilder.
As a huge fan of the Arrowverse, I always felt Batwoman was really important. It finally gave us a proper glimpse into Gotham City within that shared universe, and it did a great job of hinting at what was going on with Batman himself – keeping that mystery alive!
The TV series *Batwoman* aired for three seasons, concluding its run on The CW in March 2022. You can still watch it streaming on HBO Max.
Stargirl – HBO Max
As a huge fan of the Arrowverse, I was really excited when they confirmed that *Stargirl* took place on Earth-2 after *Crisis on Infinite Earths*. It was awesome seeing a fresh take on the Justice Society of America, and the show did a great job of weaving in some bigger multiverse stuff. I mean, Jay Garrick from *The Flash* showing up was a cool surprise, and that little crossover with Beast Boy from *Titans* was a fun bonus!
All three seasons of Stargirl are still streaming on HBO Max.
Superman & Lois – HBO Max
Even though *Superman & Lois* takes place on an alternate Earth, it’s still connected to the larger multiverse established in the *Arrowverse*. The show centers on Superman and Lois Lane as they navigate the challenges of raising their sons, who also have superpowers.
Season 4 of *Superman & Lois* effectively concluded the Arrowverse, and it was a meaningful ending because it showed Superman passing away peacefully after a full life, adding emotional weight to the series’ finale.
All four seasons Superman & Lois are streaming on HBO Max.
