The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition salaries are revealed – and one very surprising star had a huge payday
As someone who has always admired the spirit of adventure and camaraderie showcased on The Amazing Race, I find it truly inspiring to see such diverse personalities coming together for this edition. It’s fascinating to delve into the financial aspects behind the scenes – the paychecks of these celebrities range from a comfortable living to a life-changing sum.
This year’s earnings for the celebrities competing on The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition have been disclosed.
channel ten distributed approximately $1 million, as reported by Yahoo Lifestyle, among the eleven contesting duos on the program.
At the front of the group is Ian Thorpe, the Olympic athlete, rumored to be earning the highest wage, estimated at approximately $350,000.
Right after him follows the comedian and ex-host of Project, Peter Helliar, who allegedly takes home a significant sum, estimated around a few hundred thousand dollars.
The list goes on to include Natalie Bassingthwaighte, teammates Chloe Logarzo and Emily Gielnik, ex-AFL player Billy Brownless, and martial artist Tai ‘Bam Bam’ Tuivasa, who each make between $50,000 and $75,000.
It’s reported that Jett Kenny (model), Luke McGregor (comedian), DJ Havana Brown, country singers Brooke McClymont and Adam Eckersley, as well as reality TV personalities Cyrell Paule and Eden Dally are each set to receive a $50,000 paycheck.
It is thought that Cyrell and Eden successfully negotiated a higher pay rate because they were invited to join the show at the last minute, following NRL legend Matty Johns and his son Cooper’s withdrawal.
The stars are competing fiercely among themselves for an impressive award of $100,000 that will be donated to a charity of their choice.
Previously, Beau Ryan had disclosed that he received a sum of $800,000 for his involvement in the Channel 10 show.
In a conversation on KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O radio show in 2021, he clarified this way: ‘When you’re earning money for something, the question that comes to mind is “What’s the time commitment here?”‘
Later on, Kyle Sandilands inquired, “So, is this a regular thing for you? When watching The Amazing Race, do you ponder over the length of time each contestant is absent?
‘Yeah… [I was away] for two and half to three months and I got paid $800,000,’ Beau revealed.
Following Jett Kenny’s disclosure, it’s clear that his late sister Jaimi was present with him during the filming of the new season of The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition, alongside his girlfriend Lily Brown.
Instead of keeping Jaimi’s ashes at home, the 30-year-old and his partner chose to carry some with them on their travels, intending to scatter them at fascinating spots across the globe.
Since her daughter Jaimi passed away in 2020, Lisa Curry, Jett’s mother, initiated a memorial tradition. She had previously scattered some of Jaimi’s ashes at the summit of Mount Kosciuszko and various other places.
‘Jaimi was with us the whole time,’ Jett explained to The Daily Telegraph.
He mentioned that the idea originated from his mother, a truly innovative thought. Whenever she travels, she carries some of Jamie’s ashes and disperses them across various parts of the globe.
‘Having her in our backpacks meant she went to a few more places she’s never been before.’
Lily chimed in: ‘It was like she was our guardian angel’.
In September 2020, Jett’s universe crumbled when Jaimi passed away at the young age of 33, having fought against alcoholism and an eating disorder.
