Despite advancements in computational creativity, the cultural implications of generative AI often remain unexplored beyond technical demonstrations. This paper, ‘Art Notions in the Age of (Mis)anthropic AI’, critically examines how these technologies are reshaping artistic concepts, revealing a convergence of problematic ideological undercurrents within their development. We argue that the normalization of AI in art is intertwined with a substrate of machinic agency fetishism, cyberlibertarianism, and a troubling undercurrent of misanthropy. Consequently, how will a deeper understanding of these factors refine our assessment of AI’s evolving role in art and its broader socio-political impact?
