A captivating movie based on a lesser-known Agatha Christie book will soon be removed from its current streaming platform, just a month after fans received news about…
If you enjoyed the 2017 mystery film Crooked House, with Glenn Close and Stefanie Martini, you have just under a month to watch it on Netflix. It will no longer be available on the streaming service after January 1st.
Directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner and written with the help of Julian Fellowes and Tim Rose Price, Crooked House features Stefanie Martini as Sophia de Haviland, the granddaughter of the recently deceased businessman Aristide Leonides. After Aristide’s sudden death, Sophia asks investigator Charles Hayward, played by Max Irons, to investigate what happened.
The cast of Crooked House includes Simone Martini and Fiona Irons, along with Julian Sands as Aristide’s son, Philip Leonides, and Gillian Anderson as his wife, Magda. Completing the main ensemble are Terence Stamp as Chief Inspector Taverner, Amanda Abbington as Clemency Leonides, Christian McKay as Roger Leonides, Christina Hendricks as Brenda Leonides, and Honor Kneafsey as Josephine Leonides.
The movie Crooked House first aired on Channel 5 in the UK on December 17, 2017, and received mixed reactions from critics. Though many praised the acting and atmosphere, most agreed that these strengths weren’t enough to overcome the film’s generally flashy and uncomfortable presentation.
Currently, the film Crooked House has a 57% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 30 reviews from critics. Viewers who rated the film gave it a score of 54% on the site, based on over 500 ratings.
What’s Next for Agatha Christie in Film?
While one popular Agatha Christie series is leaving its streaming platform, fans still have much to anticipate. The BBC announced in July that a new series is being developed, inspired by the real-life Detection Club. It will feature fictionalized versions of famous mystery writers who were members of the club, including Dorothy L. Sayers and G.K. Chesterton.
A new movie based on Agatha Christie’s The Seven Dials Mystery is coming to Netflix on January 15, 2026. The film, from the 1929 novel, will be directed by Chris Chibnall, known for creating Broadchurch and previously working on Doctor Who. The cast includes Mia McKenna-Bruce as Lady Bundle Brent, Martin Freeman as Superintendent Battle, and Helena Bonham Carter as Lady Caterham.
Crooked House will be available for streaming on Netflix until Jan. 1, 2026.
