The Abandons Cast & Character Guide: Who Stars In Netflix’s Western Series

Netflix’s latest show, The Abandons, is a Western featuring both familiar faces and some new ones. With new content added weekly, Netflix has introduced this series, created by Kurt Sutter, the creator of Sons of Anarchy.

As a total Western fan, I’m really intrigued by The Abandons. It’s set back in the 1850s and centers around Fiona Nolan, a woman who’s adopted a family, and her fight to keep her Oregon home. Apparently, she ends up battling some very determined European aristocrats – the Van Ness family, and their leader, Constance – who are trying to take it from her. What I’m most excited about, though, is the cast; it’s packed with some seriously talented actors I’ve admired for years.

Lena Headey was born in Hamilton, Bermuda. She started her acting career in 1992 with a role in the British film Waterland. She gained wider recognition in 2005 when she appeared as Angelika in the fantasy film The Brothers Grimm, alongside stars Matt Damon and Heath Ledger.

Lena Headey became widely known for her roles as Gorgo, Queen of Sparta, in the movie 300 and its sequel, Sarah Connor in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and most notably, as Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones.

Fiona Nolan is a deeply religious Irish woman who feels her actions are guided by a greater purpose. She takes in four orphaned children and becomes a fiercely protective mother, determined to defend them and their home against anyone who threatens it.

Gillian Anderson as Constance Van Ness

Gillian Anderson began her acting career in 1983 with a role in the play Arsenic and Old Lace, but she became widely known in 1993 for playing FBI Special Agent Dana Scully on The X-Files. She’s also starred in other popular TV shows, including The Fall as Stella, Hannibal as Berdelia, and Sex Education as Jean.

Constance Van Ness is the head of the Van Ness family and became wealthy through her husband’s mining business. She’s determined to strengthen her family’s position and will stop at nothing – including opposing Fiona – to achieve her goals.

Lucas Till as Garrett Van Ness

Lucas Till was born in Fort Hood, Texas and began his acting career in 2003 with a short film and a role in The Adventures of Ociee Nash. He gained recognition for playing Alex Summers, also known as Havok, in X-Men First Class and subsequent films. However, Till is best known for his leading role as MacGyver in the popular TV series of the same name.

Aisling Franciosi as Trisha Van Ness

Aisling Franciosi is an Irish actress born in Dublin. She began her career in 2012 with a role in the TV show Trivia. Franciosi is known for her television work, including playing Katie Benedetto in The Fall, Kate Crawford in Legends, and Lyanna Stark in Game of Thrones. She has also appeared in films such as The Nightingale, The Last Voyager of the Demeter, and Speak No Evil.

Trisha Van Ness is Constance’s daughter. Along with Garret, her actions push Constance away, leading her to seek companionship with Elias Teller.

Nick Robinson as Elias Teller

Nick Robinson started his acting career on stage, playing a role in a production of To Kill a Mockingbird after being born in Seattle, Washington. He gained wider recognition with parts in films like Jurassic World (as Zach), The 5th Wave (as Ben), and Everything, Everything (as Olly). However, he’s best known for his leading role as Simon in Love, Simon, and more recently, for playing Sean in the Netflix miniseries Maid.

Elias and his sister, Dahlia, were adopted by Fiona, but he struggles with her overbearing personality and her extreme protectiveness. His relationship with Trisha, the daughter of Constance, creates further conflict between their families.

Diana Silvers as Dahlia Teller

Diana Silvers, born in Los Angeles, California, began her acting career in 2018 with a role in the horror series Into the Dark. She gained wider recognition in 2019, appearing as Maggie in the horror film Ma and then as Hope in Booksmart. Her most prominent television role so far is Erin in the series Space Force.

Dahlia is Elias’ sister and Fiona’s adopted daughter. She’s brave enough to confront the Van Nesses and actively fights against them, fueled by her anger.

Lamar Johnson as Albert Mason

As a film buff, I’ve been keeping an eye on Lamar Johnson for a while now. He’s a Canadian actor originally from Toronto, and you might recognize him from a bunch of TV shows – he was in everything from Degrassi: The Next Generation and Rookie Blue to The Next Step, Saving Hope, and even Your Honor. But he really blew up for me when he landed the role of Henry Burrell in The Last of Us. And if you’ve been to the movies, you might have spotted him as Seven Carter in The Hate U Give or as Match in Dark Phoenix.

Albert is one of Fiona’s adopted sons and a strong, natural leader. He’s the core of the family and isn’t afraid to stand up to the Van Nesses.

Natalia del Riego as Lilla Belle

Date of Birth: January 6, 2001

Natalia del Riego, originally from Dallas, Texas, began her acting career with a role in the series American Crime. She’s best known for playing Rosa Reyes on NCIS: Los Angeles.

Lilla Belle is Fiona’s adopted daughter and is incredibly protective of her family, always ready to stand up for them.

The Abandons Supporting Cast & Characters

Ryan Hurst plays Miles Alderton, a long-time resident of The Hollow. You might recognize Hurst from roles like Paratrooper Michaelson in Saving Private Ryan, Gerry Bertier in Remember the Titans, Opie in Sons of Anarchy, Hector Bonner in Bosch, and Beta in The Walking Dead. He’s also appearing in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey.

Toby Hemingway plays Willem Van Ness, the oldest of Constance’s children. The character is privileged but also quick-tempered and acts without thinking. Hemingway has appeared in films and TV shows like Black Swan, In Time, Battlecreek, The Finder, and The Crossing.

Michiel Huisman plays Roache, a criminal Constance hires to track down Willem and carry out tasks she needs done. Huisman is known for his roles in films and TV shows like The Age of Adaline, Rebel Moon and its sequel, Nashville, Orphan Black, Game of Thrones (as Daario Naharis), and The Haunting of Hill House (as Steven Crain).

Michael Greyeyes plays Jack Cree, a tough enforcer for Constance. He’s known for his roles in projects like the 2022 film Firestarter, as well as the TV series True Women, Klondike, Fear the Walking Dead, and V Wars.
