The 6 best shows coming in August 2024

As a dedicated gamer and avid TV show enthusiast, I’m always on the lookout for new and exciting shows to add to my watchlist. The recent recommendations you’ve given have truly piqued my interest, especially since they’re available on various streaming platforms.

Let’s get started: Which streaming services do you need to subscribe to in order to watch our suggested shows? The answer is: Hulu for August, as we have two recommendations from this platform. The other platforms, Apple TV+, Netflix, Max, and Peacock, each have only one recommended show. We’ve made sure to provide a diverse selection, so you can enjoy a mix of genres including drama, comedy, and action.

  • Reasonable Doubt season 2 on Hulu
  • Only Murders in the Building season 4 on Hulu
  • Bad Monkey on Apple TV+
  • A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder on Netflix
  • Industry season 3 on Max
  • Homecide: Life on the Street on Peacock

Bad Monkey (new series)

As a long-time fan of quality storytelling and a subscriber to various streaming platforms, I have to admit that Apple TV+ has been truly impressing me lately. Having grown up with a deep appreciation for thought-provoking narratives and top-notch production values, my expectations are often high. Yet, Apple TV+ continues to exceed them time and again.

Vince Vaughn plays the role of Andrew Yancy in “Bad Monkey,” a film where he used to be a detective but now works as a restaurant inspector following a string of misfortunes. An ordinary day for Andrew takes a turn for the worse when a grisly discovery is made – a severed arm. This event reels him back into the thrilling and complex world, based on Carl Hiaasen’s book of the same name. Alongside Vaughn, the film features Michelle Monaghan, Jodie Turner-Smith, Meredith Hagner, Rob Delaney, and others.

Homicide: Life on the Street (streaming for the first time)

As a gamer and Peacock subscriber: I’m thrilled that “Homicide: Life on the Street” is coming to my streaming platform starting Aug. 19. This police drama, which originally aired on NBC from 1993 to 2000 with 122 episodes spread across seven seasons, has been a critically acclaimed favorite for years. I’ve heard so much about it but never had the chance to watch it until now. With all the episodes and even the series-ending movie “Homicide: The Movie” (from 2000) being added to Peacock, I can’t wait to dive in. The cast includes Andre Braugher, Daniel Baldwin, Richard Belzer, Clark Johnson, and more talented actors. Let’s see what this classic series has to offer!

Reasonable Doubt season 2

As a dedicated fan of crime dramas, I’ve seen my fair share of shows that leave me feeling underwhelmed. But let me tell you, “Reasonable Doubt” is not one of them! I discovered this hidden gem just a few weeks ago and was immediately hooked. I missed out on the first season when it initially aired on Hulu back in August, but boy, am I glad I found it now.

In the second season of “Reasonable Doubt,” Jax Stewart, our engaging lawyer character, is swiftly drawn back into gripping circumstances as she tackles a fresh, complex case. This time, her friend is under accusation for having killed her husband in self-defense. The captivating courtroom saga features Emayatzy Corinealdi, McKinley Freeman, Tim Jo, Christopher Cassarino, and numerous other talented actors.

From this list, what will you be watching?
