The 6 best cable shows to watch on streaming

As a cord-cutter who’s been navigating the streaming landscape for quite some time now, I can confidently say that the convenience of having my favorite cable shows available at my fingertips is nothing short of a game-changer. Remember when DVRs were the coolest thing? Now we don’t even need those!

Among the advantages of streaming services, what appeals to people the most is either the exclusive original content or the ability to watch their preferred network shows even without a cable subscription. Admittedly, both aspects are commendable, but it seems that the convenience of watching favorite series without a cable connection is more appealing to many users.

Streaming has taken over the world of entertainment, making it easier than ever before to watch our go-to cable shows on our own time. If we are not able to tune in to catch a new episode, it’s no longer a big deal! Fans are able to catch up at a later time or date. Not to mention, a lot of TV watchers have cut ties with cable, relying on streaming platforms to keep up with their cable TV entertainment needs. Below, we list six of our go-to TV network shows that we’d rather watch on streaming, followed by our top three picks!

9-1-1

Airs on: ABC
It is available to stream on: Hulu and Disney+

If you’re hooked on gripping procedural dramas like I am, there’s no doubt that you’ve found yourself captivated by 9-1-1. With an impressive seven seasons already aired and another season eight on the horizon, this series co-created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear is undeniably one of the genre’s biggest success stories.

9-1-1 showcases a team of emergency responders in Los Angeles, ranging from dispatch operators to paramedics. Each episode delivers an intense, heart-pounding emergency scenario that viewers can’t help but be part of. Yet, what truly captivates audiences is not only the action but also the exploration of the characters’ personal lives and their intricate storylines. It’s no wonder, given the exceptional acting talent on display! The series features Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Oliver Stark, and Aisha Hinds in leading roles.

The eighth season will debut on ABC television stations on September 26th. Episodes can be streamed on Hulu starting the following day.

The Real Housewives of Orange County

Airs on: Bravo
It is available to stream on: Peacock

It’s essential not to deceive, regardless of your preferences for reality TV. If you’re familiar with the world, you know about the widely acclaimed “Real Housewives” franchise. In total, there are 11 distinct series within this franchise, but “Orange County” stands out as the most popular and boasts a massive fanbase. This is the original show that kick-started the entire phenomenon, which explains its enduring popularity. It’s in its 18th season for a reason!

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about the latest episodes of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” airing on Bravo before moving to Peacock. With 10 captivating episodes already available for streaming and a new one added every week, it’s not too late to jump in if you haven’t yet! This season delves into the dramatic and lavish lives of Tamra Judge, Heather Dubrow, Shannon Storms Beador, Gina Kirschenheiter (and more) – don’t miss out on the action!

Saturday Night Live

Airs on: NBC
It is available to stream on: Peacock

Listen, I used to be a huge fan of NBC’s Saturday Night Live, but if we’re being honest, it just isn’t what it used to! The celebrity hosts and musical guests are great, don’t get me wrong. SNL never fails to book the biggest stars. However, the comedy, skits, and overall Saturday Night Live magic is missing. And since new episodes air at 11 p.m. ET, I would much rather skip the NBC showing and watch the episode the following day on Peacock. That way, I can skip any parts or skits I don’t care for.
