Those questions were right there, because the show’s setup meant we were discovering the island with the characters, experiencing their confusion in real-time. It was exciting, but From takes a different approach – a more delicate, intriguing one.

What sets From apart is that the Matthews family and Jade are the only ones questioning what’s happening – they’re voicing the questions viewers have. Everyone else in town has simply accepted the monsters, the isolation, and everything else as normal. Unlike the characters in Lost, most of the people in From stopped trying to figure out what’s going on a long time ago, even before the show began.

Imagine the show Lost, but with a twist: Jack Shephard is the only new arrival, landing on the island five years after everyone else has already been living there. While the strange occurrences like the polar bear and smoke monster would be terrifying to him, the other survivors would be used to them, fundamentally altering how the show’s central mysteries unfold.
