The 11 best shows to stream in October 2024

As a seasoned gamer with a heart for streaming, I must say that this October lineup is nothing short of extraordinary! From the captivating comedy-drama “Sweetpea” to the intense thriller “Teacup,” there’s something for every taste bud in the streaming world. It’s like Halloween came early, and we’re not just talking about the candy here!

Whether you have Hulu, Max, Netflix, or one of the others, there’s something for you to watch. Or hey, you may even have all of the streamers available because being out of content to watch is simply not an option for you. Either way, we list this month’s streaming highlights from across all platforms. We’re also not sticking to only one genre, instead giving you plenty of options if you enjoy comedy, horror, or both. Because this may be officially Spooky Season, but there’s something for you to enjoy even if you’re not into thrills and scares.

Sweetpea

Let’s get started by discussing “Sweetpea” on Starz, featuring the talented Ella Purnell in the lead role. This comedy-drama centers around Rhiannon Lewis (Purnell), a woman who feels unnoticed by the world, with everyone seemingly walking all over her, even her boyfriend. However, when she reaches her breaking point, Rhiannon explodes with anger she’s been harboring inside. If you’re intrigued, check out the trailer below! Catch “Sweetpea” starting Thursday, Oct. 10 on Starz. Fresh episodes will be available each Friday, totaling six episodes in all.

Disclaimer

I’ve been eagerly anticipating Apple TV+’s series “Disclaimer” since its announcement, mainly because of the stellar cast led by Cate Blanchett. As a thriller, it already piques my interest, but what truly excites me is that it’s based on Renee Knight’s novel with the same name. The story follows Catherine Ravenscroft, a well-respected journalist whose life takes a turn for the worse when a book allegedly based on her own experiences is published, exposing her hidden past and dark secrets. In addition to Blanchett, the series boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Sacha Baron Cohen, Kevin Kline, Lesley Manville, among others.

On October 11th, the Disclaimer will make its premiere, with the first two episodes unveiled simultaneously on the Apple TV+ streaming service. In total, this compelling series will span across seven episodes, with a new episode being released every Friday following the initial launch, one at a time.

Teacup

Are you in the mood for some chilling excitement? Check out Peacock’s show called Teacup starting October 10th! The first two episodes will be available, followed by two new episodes each week leading up to Halloween. In total, there will be eight episodes, all lasting just 30 minutes. This makes it the ideal series to accompany your Halloween festivities! But don’t let the short run time mislead you; this is a truly gripping thriller.

Stars Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman, Caleb Dolden, and others in this show. The narrative revolves around a band of individuals living in rural Georgia who are compelled to join forces against an ominous, menacing danger that’s shrouded in mystery. This series is loosely based on the book “Stinger” by Robert McCammon.
