That's exactly who you think is lurking in Qimir’s cave in The Acolyte

As a devoted fan of “The Acolyte,” I have been left in awe after witnessing the shocking revelation in episode 8. The mystery surrounding Qimir and Osha’s encounter on Brendok reached its climax, revealing the enigmatic figure lurking in the shadows: Darth Plagueis!

In the latest episode 8 of “The Acolyte,” as Vernestra Rwoh from The High Republic had foreseen, the truth behind Master Sol’s cryptic hints was finally revealed. When Vernestra arrived on Brendok to solve the enigma once and for all, she uncovered the mystery that had left us puzzled throughout the season. Simultaneously, Qimir aspired to find a student in Osha on the elusive island where he had been hiding. Elsewhere, Mae found herself stranded on Sol’s ship as Sol attempted to justify his role in Aniseya’s demise. The Jedi were hot on the trail of the malevolent actions responsible for the deaths of four of their own, all while facing political challenges from figures like Senator Rayencourt.

An unexpected turn of events brought another shocking discovery to light. As Qimir and Osha prepared for their climactic encounter on Brendok, a mysterious dark figure observed from the safety of a cave. This hidden observer proved to be the greatest surprise in store.

In the intriguing saga called “The Acolyte,” speculation runs rampant as we explore the training of Star Wars’ non-traditional Dark Side disciples. These individuals, such as Baylan Skoll from Ahsoka, the Knights of Ren in the sequel trilogy, and the witches of Brendok, are not bound by the Sith’s Rule of Two. Furthermore, there exist Dark Force users with Sith connections but no official titles as Masters or Apprentices, like Asajj Ventress.

When Qimir shares with Osha that Mae swiftly finalized their deal without any second thoughts, I was taken aback and let out a surprised gasp at the following astonishing revelation. Amidst the shadows of Qimir’s cave (QimirQave), an ominous figure emerges, bearing striking resemblance to numerous portrayals of the infamous Sith Lord, Darth Plagueis. Subsequently confirmed by series creator Leslye Headland, this figure indeed turns out to be none other than Darth Plagueis himself.

It’s logical to assume that there is a strong Sith Lord overseeing Qimir’s education in the dark side, given that his hiding place might be situated on the island of Bal’demnic. This discovery hints strongly at the intersection of the “Tenebrous – Plagueis – Sidious (Palpatine)” lineage with the storyline presented in “The Acolyte“.

In Star Wars lore, there are numerous instances of individuals referred to as “Sith acolytes.” These are individuals with significant Dark Side powers who have not yet reached the rank of Master or Apprentice. They may be in line for advancement within the Sith Order.

As a seasoned fan of Star Wars lore, I’ve delved deep into the intricacies of the Sith Order and their enigmatic masters and apprentices. Based on my extensive research and appreciation for the richness of this universe, I believe that Darth Plagueis and Qimir share an intriguing connection.

In a show filled with one intriguing mystery after another, Leslye Headland demonstrates great admiration and enthusiasm for both the original Star Wars stories and the expanded universe books, like “Darth Plagueis” by James Luceno. By referencing this novel, she leaves open the possibility of a second season for “The Acolyte” or even setting up a future project within the vast and growing Star Wars saga.

With Vernestra under scrutiny due to the Jedi Order’s senatorial investigation following the incidents on Brendok, is it possible that Senator Rayencourt, who views the Jedi as an enormous power without accountability, could be involved in the Sith scheme? Osha dramatically demonstrated her ability to eliminate a Jedi without using a weapon when she choked Master Sol with the Force. In doing so, she allegedly embraced the dark side and transformed Sol’s blue kyber crystal into red.

It’s quite fitting for a Sith apprentice to eliminate their previous Master, an act that would be intriguing to a Dark Lord of the Sith like Plagueis, who observes from the sidelines as Osha confidently takes on the main character position in the season finale of “The Acolyte“.
