That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 Cancels Upcoming Episode

A popular anime series on Crunchyroll will unfortunately be delayed, and the episode scheduled for May 1st has been canceled.

The team behind the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime anime announced on their website that the episode originally planned to air on May 1, 2026, has been delayed. The episode was going to be the fifth of Season 4 and the 77th episode in total. The delay is due to scheduling issues and is the first interruption to the new season’s release.

Instead of a new episode of Reincarnated as a Slime on May 2nd at 10 p.m. JST, BS11 will be showing a special recap. The program will feature Miho Okasaki, the voice of Rimuru Tempest, and presenter Haruka Mori discussing the series so far and hinting at future events. New episodes of the anime are expected to return the following week.

The fourth season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime premiered on April 3rd as part of NTV’s Friday night anime lineup at 11 p.m. JST. It’s also available on BS11 and through Crunchyroll internationally. The season is planned to have five parts, with the first two currently being shown. Release dates for the remaining parts haven’t been announced yet.

After Season 3 ended in September 2024, the creators immediately announced both a fourth season and a new movie. The movie premiered in Japan on February 27, 2026, and shows the series is continuing to grow with both TV episodes and films.

Inspired by Fuse’s light novel series, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime tells the story of Satoru Mikami, an office worker who is reborn as a slime in a fantasy world. Now called Rimuru Tempest, he uses his special skills to make friends, create a country, and deal with tricky political situations.

Since it first appeared as an anime in 2018, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has consistently been recognized with awards. The main character, Rimuru Tempest, won “Best Protagonist” at the 3rd Crunchyroll Anime Awards, and the series later earned “Best Fantasy” in 2022 after its second season. Most recently, the third season was nominated for “Best Isekai Anime” in 2025, but Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World Season 3 won instead. The fourth season of Re:Zero is also highly anticipated.

The next episodes of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 will be released on April 17th (Episode 3) and April 24th (Episode 4). While the release date for Episode 5 is still to be announced, a 30-minute recap special will air on May 2nd at 10 p.m. in Japan (8 a.m. Eastern Time).
