That time Coldplay’s Chris Martin blew up the world (oops) for a couple caught cheating on the kiss-cam
At times, there’s a desire to reclaim a brief instant – a single, tiny second. For instance, perhaps that fleeting instant when a Kiss Cam captured you and your HR supervisor, caught in a moment of mischief during the Coldplay concert on Wednesday evening.
Andy Byron, the CEO of data-infrastructure firm Astronomer Inc., found himself in a delicate situation when he was seen on camera embracing Kristin Cabot, who is the HR head and not his spouse, in a warm and affectionate manner.
Music
During Coldplay’s performance on Sunday in Melbourne, Chris Martin tumbled through a trap door but ended up okay, expressing gratitude to the crew member who managed to catch him.
The instant became an all-time favorite for the concert-goers: “Check out this pair,” singer Chris Martin commented as the camera zeroed in on them, causing Cabot to abruptly step out of view, embarrassed, while Cabot spun away, hid her face, and eventually left.
“Wait, what? Either they’re having an affair,” Martin said, “or they’re just very shy.”
Could it be possible that they were acting quite foolishly in responding as they did? It’s not like we’re professional analysts here, but if they had just maintained their affectionate hug and kept quiet, perhaps the intricacies of their situation wouldn’t have been broadcasted to the approximately 65,000 spectators at Gillette Stadium, a stadium famously home to the NFL’s New England Patriots.
All they had to do was nothing.
But ooh, they did something.

Television
Khloé Kardashian remembers feeling extremely upset when she discovered her husband, Lamar Odom, at a downtown Los Angeles hotel with a woman, who was either completely nude or wearing lingerie.
So much for conscious uncoupling. Nice move, Martin.
However, it wasn’t primarily the singer’s fault that this week’s most talked-about incident unfolded. The events in Foxborough, Massachusetts might have remained local had it not been for Grace Springer, a 28-year-old who shared the video on TikTok. She claimed she made the video public because she found the couple’s reaction “an intriguing spectacle” for others to observe.
A piece of me is filled with regret for disrupting these individuals’ lives so significantly, but as the saying goes, ‘foolish actions bring foolish consequences.’ However, I can only hope that their partners will find solace and another opportunity to experience joy.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Ouch.
Music
Dave Grohl, the rock star from Foo Fighters and father of three children with wife Jordyn Blum, has announced on social media that he’s just had a daughter born to someone other than his spouse.
The internet, of course, has been quite happy to mete out those stupid prizes left and right.
As a passionate moviegoer, I can’t help but share my excitement over the new merchandise celebrating a memorable scene! On Etsy, there’s a t-shirt that perfectly encapsulates it: “I’m Not Shy, Just Married. #Coldplaygate.” It’s such a fun and unique way to remember this iconic moment!
A different vendor is showcasing a sweatshirt that boldly states, “I Took My Sidepiece to a Coldplay Concert and It Wrecked My Existence.” One t-shirt wades into political territory, advocating for privacy: “Make Politics Private Again!” The tee featuring an authentic picture of the couple probably won’t stay long due to copyright issues, but the animated variant could linger a bit more.
Alas, there are no koozies for sale. Not yet.
World & Nation
In New York, it’s currently against the law to cheat on your spouse. However, a new bill could make adultery legal in this state once again, as it seeks to overturn a 114-year-old law that still carries a potential prison sentence of up to three months.
In addition to these, you’ll find various memes. One depicts a pair reminiscent of the hitchhiking ghosts from Disney’s iconic Haunted Mansion ride finale. Another presents Miss Piggy in the embrace of a tall Fozzie Bear, with a corner sign reading “Coldplay’s Caught-in-the-Act Cam.” On another platform, Elon Musk had a good laugh at a rendition of the couple mimicking Edvard Munch’s famous painting, “The Scream.” Lastly, there was the timeless MasterCard meme: “Priceless.
On X, someone joked that Coldplay hasn’t released a single for a while, sharing a screenshot from their video. Last night, they dropped not just one but two new singles.
A different source disputed the statement in the ChatGPT summary about a Taylor Swift ticket being priced at $200,000 on resale; instead, they mentioned that Coldplay currently holds the title for the highest-priced concert ticket ever sold.
Randy Scott from ESPN remarked during SportsCenter, “It’s time to bid farewell,” as he and Gary Striewski recreated the popular moment on air on Friday. He added, “There are many things in life besides baseball that might also warrant a goodbye.

Entertainment & Arts
Sydney Sweeney’s promotional activities for the limited-edition soap, claimed to be made using water from her bath, suggest she could be either maintaining a pure image or going to great lengths for publicity.
If it seemed like Andy Byron was going through some particularly tough days, what about the other individuals named Andy Byron? The bio of one such Andy, who’s from Dublin and isn’t the Andy from the Coldplay concert, states “NOT THE GUY FROM THE COLDPLAY GIG”. A user joked that perhaps only the other Andy Byrons were having a worse day than Andy Byron.
Contrary to a supposed apology from our CEO, the Astronomer company has confirmed that it was not genuine.
Real Astronomer Incorporated declared on Friday that they are investigating the matter and clarified that Alyssa Stoddard, who is their Vice President of Human Resources, was not present in the video. Initially, there may have been a misunderstanding about her involvement due to her position being lower than Cabot’s.
In this context, it might be more appropriate to omit any reference to Stoddard as she holds a lower-level position within the company compared to the main focus of the situation.
According to a post on LinkedIn, our leaders are supposed to lead by example in terms of behavior and responsibility. The Board of Directors has launched a thorough investigation regarding the current situation, and we’ll be providing more information about it soon.

Look, there they are!
Additional. Details. Very. Shortly.
Soooooo — the fun won’t be ending any time soon.
In response to a flurry of public comments about Andy Byron, Megan Kerrigan Byron, his actual wife, removed “Byron” from her Facebook name and ultimately deactivated her account altogether, as reported by Newsweek.
Looks like she’s choosing to do something instead of nothing, too.
