Here’s how the TFT Pro Circuit works and what this esports update means to the Tier 2 scene.
Riot Games unveils a fresh Tier 1 tournament series, dubbed as the Teamfight Tactics (TFT) Pro Circuit. This competition spans across four distinct regions: Americas (AMER), Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), Asia-Pacific (APAC), and China (CN). In each region, 32 players will be participating. Here’s a brief outline of the TFT Pro Circuit’s structure and additional details.
TFT Pro Circuit 2025
Riot Games has announced that the top 32 competitors in Set 15 of Teamfight Tactics (TFT) will consist of 28 players from the Cyber City Golden Spatula group, and four additional individuals who will be handpicked. Each set will feature three TFT Pro Circuit events, including the Battle Academia Cup, Soul Fighter Cup, and Star Guardian Cup. The winners of these tournaments will receive direct invitations to the Tactician’s Crown event.
From August 29th, competitors will compete against each other for Pro Points, which will decide their initial positions in their respective regional finals. The top 12 players will appear in Weekend 2, while the remaining 20 players, along with 36 players from the ladder and Tactician’s Cup events, will start in Weekend 1. Only the top 32 players advancing from the regional finals will progress to the TFT Pro Circuit stage.

TFT Pro Circuit esports hub
Starting August 20th, Riot Games plans to introduce an esports hub specifically for Teamfight Tactics (TFT) competition. This platform will allow everyone to monitor each competitor’s progress, the overall rankings, upcoming regional events, and more. Later in the year, this hub is expected to grow to encompass a wider range of TFT esports news, updates on standings, tournaments, schedules, and much more.

TFT Tier 2 esports
Regarding Tier 2 events, Michael Sherman, head of TFT and Esports Emerging, mentioned that these events present a significant chance for budding players to shine as professionals from the Pro Circuit will no longer participate in Cups and Trials.
Currently, participating in both Cups and Trials is quite demanding, Sherman pointed out. To accumulate sufficient qualifier points, you practically need to play almost every match of the series to make it to regionals. However, a change is being made so that the top 10 players from each Cup will directly advance to the regional finals, bypassing the need for qualifier points. Furthermore, this adjustment reduces the number of Cups from three to two, making each event more significant. Moreover, players can still qualify for the regional finals through the ranked ladder as well.
Riot Games plans to simplify competitive Teamfight Tactics (TFT) for players by creating an external tournament system outside of their client. This trial kick-starts in the American region with 24-player competitions that don’t require a specific rank. Players will engage in 2 to 5 matches per round, and high scorers will appear on a public leaderboard. Queues remain open throughout the weekend, enabling players to participate as many times as they wish and multiple times daily.
