Season 2 of Landman will prominently feature Texas Christian University (TCU), and the university plays a significant role in this new installment of Taylor Sheridan’s oil drama. The first season of Landman was a hit, airing alongside the second part of Yellowstone Season 5 and starring Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris.
Tommy is surrounded by a unique family, including his girlfriend, Angela, played by Ali Larter, and his daughter, Ainsley, played by Michelle Randolph. Ainsley caused some drama in the first season, but this season will explore her experiences as she starts college.
Landman Season 2 Features Texas Christian University Explained
Texas Christian University, or TCU, is a private college in Fort Worth, Texas, with around 13,000 students. It’s known for its strong academics and religious affiliation. While Texas has many colleges, TCU is highly respected and will be an important part of the Norris family’s journey. Ainsley is hoping to attend TCU.
Angela and Ainsley visited TCU, stopping in front of Sadler Hall, the building where the university is administered. They also admired the Horned Frog Statue, a metal sculpture celebrating the school’s mascot, though Ainsley was a little confused about what kind of lizard represented the university.
Although we’ve only seen a small part of it so far, Texas Christian University (TCU) will probably play a big role in season two of Landman. Ainsley plans to attend TCU and cheer there while she studies. Tommy points out that it’s a very expensive school – tuition is actually higher than at some Ivy League universities like Harvard, MIT, and Princeton.
Ainsley Norris Will Attend TCU In Landman Season 2
Ainsley is confirmed to attend Texas Christian University following a successful interview. Tommy’s daughter has earned a spot on the cheerleading squad as a priority walk-on, meaning she’s guaranteed admission as long as she meets the university’s basic requirements – which she does. She just needs to complete a final visit with an admissions officer.
A conversation about a policy prohibiting cheerleaders from dating athletes leads Norris to express some surprisingly exclusive views. Because Norris’s application bypasses the usual admissions review, Greta has no power to influence Ainsley’s acceptance and must approve sending her an acceptance letter.
In Season 2 of Landman, Ainsley will be going to college, and a big part of her experience will be dating a football player. While we don’t yet know her major, she previously thought about studying philanthropy—a relatively new field that isn’t very common.
Landman Season 2’s TCU Plot Changes Ainsley’s Season 1 Story
Season 2 of Landman introduces an intriguing new element – a deeper look into Texas history and culture. However, this change in direction takes Ainsley’s story away from her original plans. She and her boyfriend, Ryder (Mitchell Slaggert), had intended to both go to Texas Tech after graduating high school.
Ryder’s ACT score of 17 didn’t meet Texas Tech’s requirements, so he went to a junior college in Kilgore, Texas, instead. This meant Ainsley’s hope of dating an NFL player through him wouldn’t come true, so she decided to start over at TCU.
Though it might not seem important, Ainsley’s decision about where to go to college will really affect the story. Once she gets into TCU, her mother, Angela, begins discussing buying a house in Fort Worth so she can be close to her. This could mean Angela ends up making a life for herself somewhere new.
Texas Tech is close to Tommy’s home in Midland—just about a two-hour drive—but TCU is much farther, over four hours away. Angela is now talking about upgrading the family’s home, possibly buying a large mansion now that Tommy is earning more. And this won’t be the last we see of TCU, as Ainsley is planning to attend classes there and join the student body—the ‘horny toads’!
