Tetris Forever Update Adds 1989's Spectrum Title 'Welltris' and Button Remapping

Ahoy there, fellow gaming aficionados! I’ve been spinning those joy-sticks and tapping those buttons since the days of 8-bit marvels, and let me tell you, Digital Eclipse’s latest update for Tetris Forever has sent my nostalgia sensors into overdrive!

Today, Digital Eclipse, known for their expertise on retro games, has unveiled a fresh update for the game titled Tetris Forever. This latest version includes an extra game within the collection of classic Tetris editions, making it the third installment in Digital Eclipse’s Gold Master Series.

The new update introduces Welltris, a fresh spin on the classic game Tetris first released in 1989 for Spectrum Holobyte and MS-DOS. Instead of the traditional gameplay, you’ll be challenged to drop Tetriminos and other shapes down all four walls of a 3D well.

In addition to the update, players will now have the ability to reassign controls within Tetris Time Warp, along with Elektronika 60, MS-DOS, and Apple II titles on gaming consoles – a feature many fans have been eagerly anticipating. Furthermore, Digital Eclipse has plans for additional enhancements and new features in the near future.

In January 2025, we plan to release a fix for the issue where some classic games don’t allow players to save or record high scores. Additionally, a bigger update with new gameplay modes is scheduled for early 2025.

The game known as “Tetris Forever” is now accessible on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and personal computers. It’s truly remarkable! For more insights, check out our detailed Tetris Forever review.
