Tessa Thompson‘s Valkyrie has been showing up in some interesting places within the Marvel universe lately. Most recently, she appeared in the film The Marvels, offering refuge to Skrulls at Carol Danvers’ request, and in the animated Disney+ series Marvel Zombies, where she teamed up with characters like Kamala Khan, Blade, and Shang-Chi. Now, almost any character combination with the queen of Asgard feels possible, but Thompson herself has expressed interest in partnering with The Winter Soldier in a future Marvel project.
Tessa Thompson recently discussed her potential future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during an interview with Collider Ladies Night. She was asked about which character she’d like to see paired with her character, Valkyrie, in a story. While she wasn’t sure how a relationship between Valkyrie and Bucky Barnes would work, she expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of working with Sebastian Stan on screen.
Honestly, I’m a huge Sebastian Stan fan and I’d love to work with him someday! I’m not even sure what kind of dynamic we’d have on screen, but he’s just incredibly talented. It doesn’t even have to be a Marvel project – I’d jump at the chance to act alongside him. It would be a blast!
Similar to Valkyrie, the Winter Soldier has been busy and making connections with new characters. He’s appeared in two major movies recently, and we’ve learned he’s now a Congressman representing Brooklyn. Plus, he’s joined a new superhero team called the New Avengers.
I agree with Tessa Thompson – it would be fantastic to see Sebastian Stan and Valkyrie share the screen. They’d make a really strong duo! While their pasts are quite different, they both have experience as soldiers, and that shared background could create a compelling connection. They’re both skilled fighters, and it would be amazing to watch them team up and fight side-by-side.
Will Tessa Thompson be in the next Avengers movie? It’s uncertain. Although Sebastian Stan is confirmed to be in Avengers: Doomsday (2026), her name wasn’t included in the initial cast announcement. However, Marvel might be keeping her appearance a secret, or she could appear in Avengers: Secret Wars (2027) instead. So, her involvement hasn’t been ruled out.
