Tess Daly’s quirky health and fitness regime from trampolining to skipping – after Strictly star revealed she still fits in the same jeans she wore in her 20s

Ever since I can remember, it’s been Tess Daly gracing our British TV screens for the past two decades, leaving everyone in awe as if time had stood still for her!

However, the 56-year-old host of Strictly Come Dancing attributes her timeless elegance more to an unusual exercise routine rather than dietary restrictions.

On a recent interview with The Mirror, it was disclosed by Tess that she can once again comfortably wear the same size jeans she did back in her twenties.

She shared with the media outlet: “I’m still fitting into the same jeans sizes I wore in my twenties, and it’s not due to dieting – it’s because of consistent maintenance.

Previously, the model shared with fans different methods she uses to maintain her toned physique, such as jogging on a treadmill while enjoying Netflix series, doing morning jump ropes routines, and even bouncing around in her garden on a trampoline.

Tess attributes her daily yoga practice not only to her physical fitness but also to her mental health. Additionally, she expressed her fondness for swimming.

In 2021, she shared with TopMob that she engages in a daily online yoga session lasting 20 minutes. This small routine serves as a personal gesture of self-care as well.

Discovering yoga has been a life-changer for me. It not only maintains your youthfulness but also flexibility, while alleviating discomforts – all at no cost, as there are numerous classes available on YouTube!

For several years, I have been dedicated to fitness, working out a couple of days each week. These sessions, either online or with a personal trainer, help fortify my body both physically and mentally. Additionally, yoga offers unique benefits by encouraging focus on the present moment, eliminating feelings of anxiety and doubt.

However, Tess’s fitness routine doesn’t solely consist of yoga; instead, she shared a trick for enjoying Netflix without guilt.

2021 saw me excitedly sharing with Women’s Health UK that I’d struck gold with my fitness routine! You see, I’ve set up a treadmill where I can multitask like a pro – watch my favorite Netflix shows while running 5k! It’s an unbeatable combo that keeps me hooked and moving.

‘I would never sit down and watch TV in the day but, on the treadmill, I can justify it.’

Apart from running, Tess also has a keen interest in swimming, bouncing on trampolines, and skipping ropes. She finds these activities incredibly enjoyable and claims they make her feel like a kid once more.

In reference to Health & Wellbeing in the year 2020, Tess expressed her fondness by saying: “I truly enjoy swimming, and I find joy in activities like skipping and bouncing on a trampoline. We have a small trampoline at our home outside, which is wonderful for activating the lymphatic system and improving circulation.

Occasionally, I jump rope for five minutes at the start of my day – one minute of continuous jumping followed by a minute rest, and I find it invigorating. If you’re experiencing morning grogginess, this could be an effective remedy, even better than a cup of coffee in my opinion! Plus, it’s budget-friendly and convenient – simply purchase a skipping rope from Amazon, and it will arrive the next day for just a few pounds.

As an enthusiastic skiper extraordinaire, let me share my passion! Rain or shine, this activity is perfect for indoor workouts. It’s not just exercise; it’s a circulation-boosting, energy-awakening, and figure-maintaining powerhouse! For me, there’s nothing quite like the simple joy of skipping. Every leap brings a smile to my face, making those calories burn with a side of pure happiness!

I strongly suggest this activity to anyone I know as it’s effortless and brings back childhood memories. It stimulates parts of your body that have been dormant, creating a synchronized movement which feels great. It increases endorphins and is swift.

Tess has acknowledged the importance of a balanced diet, stating in 2021 to TopMob: “Food for me is like energy from sugar. It’s either used wisely or misused. I wouldn’t call myself a dietary saint, but I do enjoy chocolate and have a strong sweet tooth. Every day ends with me taking a break with a cup of tea and a sugary snack.

In my own kitchen, I prepare nutritious, wholesome meals that are rich in vegetables and balanced in protein. They’re also easy on the digestive system. I have a passion for cooking and enjoy preparing these meals for my family. However, during homeschooling hours, we do keep a snack drawer stocked with treats as a reward for finishing seven hours of online learning. It’s a little treat they deserve at the end of the day.

‘But treats aside, we eat healthily as a family and I enjoy creating those healthy meals.’

Tess shares daughters Phoebe, 20, and Amber, 16, with Radio 2 DJ husband Vernon Kay, 51.

On Thursdays, she showcased various items from her personal line of NAIA Beach swimwear during an interview with The Mirror. She expressed her conviction that she has found the secret to simultaneously feeling and appearing fabulous.

She mentioned that she intends to perform planks daily in her living room, as she values strong core muscles significantly, especially given her current age. Additionally, since she is quite tall and frequently moves about in high heels, she emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy back.

The star added that although she’s now in her 50s, she feels as energetic as she did in her 20s.
