Early reviews for Whistle have been very positive, with some critics drawing comparisons to the Final Destination movies. Daily Dead described it as a fast-paced and energetic teen slasher that cleverly reimagines the Final Destination formula.

The Blogging Banshee praised ‘Whistle,’ calling it a genuinely scary teen horror film with impressive action and great acting.

Tom Hardy described his film, Whistle, as being created with the same raw emotional honesty and relatable teenage angst that defined many of the movies he loved growing up, according to Deadline.

The fascinating stories behind the ‘Death Whistle’ really sparked my imagination, and I jumped at the chance to design some truly cinematic, scary, and creative deaths. This movie is meant to be seen on the big screen, and I’m excited for audiences to experience it with the Independent Film Company and Shudder in theaters!

Nélisse discussed her character, Ellie, and what she saw as Ellie’s biggest flaw. “I think Ellie’s biggest weakness is that she tries too hard to be good,” she explained to Collider.

Ellie is a rule-follower, and that’s a big part of why she’s attracted to Chris. She’s impressed by his free spirit – he does whatever he wants – while she’s more of a rebel, though she’d never intentionally hurt anyone. Ellie is focused on a stable future – she wants to become a doctor or nurse and has a clear plan. She doesn’t usually take risks, but she’s likely to change when she meets Chris. However, her cautious nature is also one of her best qualities; she always looks for the good in others.

Whistle will land in UK cinemas on 6 February.
