Terrifier 3 releases digitally and 3 other scary new movies coming this week, Nov. 25
As a true crime enthusiast who has spent countless nights binge-watching documentaries and poring over case files, I’m particularly intrigued by Netflix’s new documentary series “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey”. The unsolved murder of this young beauty queen has haunted the public for decades, and I can’t wait to delve into the latest theories and evidence that Joe Berlinger will present.
This Thanksgiving week, horror enthusiasts may find their choices limited. However, there’s plenty to look forward to in December, such as Robert Eggers’ ‘Nosferatu’, the A24 slasher ‘Y2K’, and ‘Nightbitch’ starring Amy Adams. If you’re on the hunt for something fresh this week, an indie film about a menacing Greek demon and the digital launch of ‘Terrifier 3‘ are worth considering. True crime aficionados might want to delve back into the JonBenét Ramsey case with Netflix’s new Joe Berlinger-directed documentary series.
Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey (Netflix, Nov. 25)
Netflix is set to delve into one of the most famous unsolved crimes in history with their upcoming documentary series titled “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey.” Back in 1996, six-year-old JonBenét was brutally killed, her lifeless body found in the family home in Colorado by her father, John Ramsey.
Nearly three decades have passed since the mysterious disappearance of JonBenét, and efforts to uncover her killer and bring justice continue without success. In a new collaboration with director Joe Berlinger (known for “Conversations with a Killer”), Netflix is set to release a docuseries delving into this enigmatic case, with all episodes available simultaneously.
Terrifier 3 (VOD, Nov. 26)
Starting from next Tuesday, you can either rent or buy a digital version of “Terrifier 3”, the third film in the slasher series by Damien Leone, featuring the ruthless killer Art the Clown (played by David Howard Thornton). However, those who prefer physical copies will have to wait until December 17 to acquire the 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD, and special edition versions.
As the bloodiest film in the trilogy, “Terrifier 3” is a chilling holiday horror production where Art confronts Sienna Shaw (portrayed by Lauren LaVera), the trilogy’s last surviving heroine, one more time for a Christmas showdown.
Its Name Was Mormo (VOD, Nov. 26)
The title of this intriguing and distinctive movie is “Mormo.” This docufiction piece skillfully merges truth and imagination, weaving a captivating tale using actual police records. A household experiences terror as they are tormented by an age-old demon from Greek mythology, each family member becoming a singular target of its malevolence.
Initially, the narrative was intended to document a family moving into a new residence on screen, yet bizarre occurrences started happening off set, which were later incorporated into the movie’s plot. Dread Central provided an insightful analysis detailing the movie’s content and interviewing the filmmakers.
All the Lost Ones (Theaters – Canada only, Nov. 29)
Actor Devon Sawa, known for his roles in “Chucky” and “Final Destination”, shines in a science fiction movie helmed by director Mackenzie Donaldson. Entitled “All the Lost Ones”, this film unfolds in a post-apocalyptic landscape that was once North America, devastated by a war ignited by the swift advance of climate change. The Toronto-based distributor levelFILM has recently disclosed on Instagram the premiere date for the film. As of now, it will hit screens only in Canada; however, stay tuned for its upcoming Video on Demand release.
