As a longtime horror enthusiast with a soft spot for indie films, I can’t help but feel exhilarated by the success of Terrifier 3. Having grown up on a steady diet of slasher flicks and cult classics, I never thought I would witness an underdog story quite like this one.
Director Damien Leone, of the film “Terrifier 3”, has spoken up following the tremendous box office triumph of his horror hit. The movie secured the top position on the domestic charts during its inaugural weekend.
The Christmas slasher film has dethroned “Joker: Folie à Deux” as number one, a movie that set a record for the steepest second-weekend drop among all comic book films. After its debut weekend where it earned $37.8 million, it plummeted 81% in the box office rankings according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Interestingly, while the third installment of “Terrifier” raked in a surprising $18.2 million at the U.S. box office this weekend, the much-anticipated “Joker 2” only managed to earn $7 million during the same period.
In response to a post announcing that David Howard Thornton’s return as Art the Clown made their movie the top-grossing film in America, Director Leone expressed his feelings as being “proud” of this achievement.
He expressed his sense of pride and gratitude on X, writing that he watched “Terrifier 3” in a crowded theater in Times Square the previous night, an experience he’d never forget. The atmosphere created by the audience was absolutely remarkable.
Additionally, Leone posted on Instagram expressing his astonishment by announcing that “Terrifier 3” has become the top-ranked film in the nation.
It’s quite remarkable that our movie has been such a significant success given that it’s an independent, uncategorized production often considered too specialized or graphic for mass market tastes.
He went on to say, “Don’t undervalue the dedication of horror enthusiasts! It’s a true honor and source of pride for me to be sharing this moment with my team who have put in more effort than you can imagine on this movie. Each one of you is a passionate and dedicated star, like rockstars.
