A reality TV personality described being in pyjamas and collecting food from a restaurant when the shooting started at Bondi Beach on Sunday.
Lauren Dunn was a contestant on the eleventh season of Married At First Sight in 2024. She’s originally from outside the area, having recently moved to Bondi just a few months before appearing on the show.
The 37-year-old woman told the Daily Mail that she felt so relaxed at home on a quiet Sunday night, she simply walked downstairs in her pajamas to get a snack.
That was before gunfire broke out in the idyllic, beachside suburb.
Lauren initially thought she heard a car backfire, which wasn’t surprising given that people often drive fast, modified cars along Campbell Parade.
According to a tearful Lauren, people began to run and scream, and police officers yelled for everyone to go indoors, as she told the Daily Mail.

Lauren described a chaotic scene, saying she had to run to escape a sudden danger at a beach festival. Just moments before, she’d seen many people, including children, enjoying the event and interacting with gentle animals.
The blogger safely reached her apartment, but unfortunately, not all of her friends were as fortunate.
She cried while explaining that the group chat with her friends was flooded with videos of the aftermath, showing ‘dead bodies everywhere’.
From her balcony, Lauren watched as helicopters flew over the beach, using loudspeakers to warn people to stay inside. The whole area was immediately put on lockdown.
Oh my gosh, it was insane! There were police boats everywhere – they were trying to keep everyone back, but I swear, even with all that, I could still see people just wandering around, totally lost in the chaos. It was like they didn’t even realize what was happening! I couldn’t believe it.
Just an hour after the tragic event, Lauren received a cruel message online from someone who wished she had been among those killed.
The reality star attributed the violence seen at Bondi Beach on Sunday to ‘incel men’.
She expressed her disgust, saying she couldn’t believe people were simply going about their daily lives and that this situation had occurred in this place.

‘In the US, you see it every week. You don’t ever expect to see it in Bondi.’
A shooting at Bondi Beach on Sunday afternoon killed twelve people, including children. The attack happened during a Jewish holiday celebration and was carried out by two gunmen with rifles.
On Sunday around 6:40 PM, two men got out of a car on Campbell Parade, near Bondi Pavilion, and started shooting. Video footage shows numerous shots being fired in the busy tourist area, with some witnesses estimating over 30.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen a lot of shocking things, but recent footage obtained by Daily Mail photographers is particularly disturbing. They captured a gunman firing a large rifle from a bridge – a truly frightening scene, and one that highlights the importance of staying aware of your surroundings and prioritizing safety.
One gunman has been shot dead. The second shooter is in critical condition.
One of the two men has been identified as Naveed Akram after police raided his Western Sydney home.
Chanukah by the Sea, a family-friendly festival, was underway with children present when gunfire erupted.
Around 25 people, including two police officers, were hurt and have been transported to hospitals across Sydney.

NSW Police are urging people to avoid the area, with an exclusion zone in place.
As a lifestyle expert, I want to share the latest update: late Sunday evening, authorities confirmed they discovered several concerning items near where the incident occurred, including what appears to be a homemade bomb. It’s a serious situation, and they’re handling it carefully.
The items are being examined by specialist officers.
Following the attack, police are reportedly searching a property in Bonnyrigg, a suburb in western Sydney.
Kirk Gehri, a local who was at Depot in Bondi when the shooting took place, said that it was chaos.
‘They were just shooting openly at that bridge,’ he said.
‘I saw some people were running away when I first arrived.’
Jewish federal MP Julian Leeser said the shooting was a ‘terror attack’.
